Teams cannot officially release players until Thursday, but according to philly.com, the Denver Broncos will release 32-year old running back Correll Buckhalter.
Buckhalter thrived in his first season with the Broncos in 2009, rushing 120 tiems for 642 yards (5.4 yards per carry) and a touchdown.
But he carried just 59 times for 147 yards and two touchdowns last season. His 2.8 yards per carry was virtually half of his total the previous season.
With the Eagles from 2001 to 2008, Buckhalter earned a reputation as one of the best backup running backs in the National Football League. (And here are my thoughts about Buckhalter.)
He missed the entire 2002, 2004, and 2005 seasons with knee injuries, but rebounded from each injury.
His career highlights in Philadelphia include: a rookie record 586 rushing yards in 2001, nine touchdowns as a member of the three-headed running back in 2003, and 5.0 and 4.9 yards per carry in 2007 and 2008, his final two seasons in Philly.
