The Herald has confirmed the Patriots have waived DL Louis Leonard. He was signed last week to add depth to an injury-depleted defensive line. At the time Leonard was brought in, Gerard Warren (knee), Ron Brace (concussion), Myron Pryor (back) and Mike Wright (concussion) were all on the injury report. Only Warren suited up and played against the Packers during Sunday night’s win. Leonard was active, but did not play on defense. His departure likely means that one or more of the injured linemen, be it Brace, Pryor or Wright, are close to or ready to come back this weekend against Buffalo. The Pats now have an open roster spot to fill between now and the start of the Bills game. ESPNBoston’s Mike Reiss was first to report on Leonard’s departure.
