Terrell McClain gets slapped with a personal foul, a 15-yarder, that keeps the Lions' series alive. McClain hit Matthew Stafford after he ran out of bounds near the Lions' sideline. On the next play, Stafford finds Kevin Smith for a gain of 15 yards.

Kevin Smith rumbles four yards for the score and a 35-27 lead. The Lions drive took 4:34 off the clock. Carolina gets the ball with 8:02 left and all three of its timeouts. Matthew Stafford has now completed 17 of his last 19 passes since throwing those two interceptions in the first quarter.

On second-and-1, Calvin Johnson caught a 26-yard pass from Matthew Stafford. Lions are at the Carolina 31.
