So how long have we waited? We, the tried and true, die-hard fans of the Detroit Lions have waited forever. Humiliation after humiliation. Loss after lopsided loss. Last year's Lions' squad (R.I.P., 0-16) was the worst of the worst. Sure, we had seen bad seasons: 2-14, 3-13, 4-12. But a winless season? Unbelievable.
For most teams, they would look back on this win and it wouldn't mean anything. For Detroit and their fans, this win means something much more than just a "W" on a schedule. It marks the turning of a page on perhaps the most disgraceful 10+ years in NFL history. No one can or will ever forget the Matt Millen era.
Do not misunderstand me of course when I say that this win marks a new direction. I do not simply mean that just because the Lions have won a single game that their season is a success. It simply means that they have something to build off of for the remainder of their...
