In a move made trying to bolster their defensive backfield, the Detroit Lions have signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Myron Lewis. Lewis is a former third-round selection and was released by the Buccaneers last week. Detroit does have secondary issues but this move should do little to rectify their issues. The move was first reported by PFT.com on Twitter.
During his tenure with the Buccaneers, Lewis struggled to stay on the field due to injuries. He never lived up to his potential while in Tampa. He came to the Buccaneers with high expectations but never lived up to the billing. Tampa Bay spent much of the offseason trying to fix their own secondary issues by trading for Jets CB Darrelle Revis and drafting CB Jonthan Banks and signing free agent safety Dashon Goldson.
During his career, Lewis appeared in 29 games, starting only once. He has 17 career tackles and four pass deflections. He played his college ball at Vanderbilt where he earned all-SEC second team honors. After waiv...

Myron Lewis the 2010 third-round draft pick who was cut by the Buccaneers last week has landed in Detroit.
A league source tells PFT that the Lions have signed Lewis.
The Lions have been looking for depth in the secondary and improvement on special teams so Lewis makes a lot of sense for them.
The Lions disappointed their fans again last season. They missed the playoffs but CJ set a receiving record because they were always behind. There are a lot of players that need to step up this season. Here's a three step drop from the first preseason game. Step 1 - The offensive line, especially Reiff, did pretty well. The Jets don't have a great pass rush but they...
TAMPA, Fla. Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy left practice Saturday with a tweaked calf, coach Greg Schiano said. The severity is unknown.
McCoy, named to his first Pro Bowl after last season, limped off during a two-minute drill late in the workout at One Buc Place. After leaving the field, he walked along the sideline but did not return to live play.
Norwegian kicker Havard Rugland, better known as “Kickalicious” got some great English lessons from the likes of Method Man, Raekwon the Chef and Old Dirty Bastard as he prepared for life in the United States.
That little tidbit about Rugland was shared to the Detroit Free Press by teammate Rob Sims:
The first day we’re hanging out in the hot tub, right?” Sims said. “I’m...
ALLEN PARK, Mich. Its not easy to keep track of all the defensive backs who have made their way into the Detroit Lions lineup in recent years.
Injuries and mediocre results led to six different cornerbacks and six different safeties getting at least one start just last season.
Cornerback Chris Houston, in his fourth year with the club, has seen it all.
Ive probably played with...

ESPN sportscaster and former NFL lineman, Mark Schlereth has a wise NFL saying: “Preseason games don’t count, but they do matter.”
What he means by this is that the final score may not have an impact on a team’s regular season record, but the effort, progress and adaptation to live play shown in the preseason will have an impact that may change the...

Several rejected design ideas for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' rebranding and logo have surfaced recently. Check them out compared to what the franchise wound up choosing.
Yes, it was only the first preseason game but we still learned a few things. Here are the five most important things we learned:5. Rex Ryan doesn't have time to watch the offenseNow, that could explain a whole lot. When asked about the interception Mark Sanchez tossed in the first quarter, the head coach replied "he never saw it"? Does that philosophy apply to...
If you’ve been around Detroit Lions training camp already this summer, you know it’s a make or break season for the Motor City’s NFL team. The NFC North runs through the Green Bay Packers, and both the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings have the potential to be 10 win teams again.
A year after Coach Jim Schwartz and GM Martin Mayhew signed contract extensions, they find themselves...
Ziggy Ansah looked like a natural in his exhibition debut, when the rookie defensive end picked off Mark Sanchez's screen pass and took it back for a touchdown.
Detroit coach Jim Schwartz wasn't at all surprised.
''I know a lot of people were looking at us sideways when we drafted a guy that didn't have a whole lot of experience,'' Schwartz said after...
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that free agent TE Dallas Clark has re-affirmed his intentions of playing this season.
Schefter adds that a “deal could get done this week“
While still no official word on what team may have an interest, the Baltimore Ravens would make some sense. Injuries to established tight ends Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson have the Ravens tight end unit shallow...
