2011 was a successful season for the Detroit Lions but like the 30 teams sitting at home during Super Bowl Weekend, they have work to do. This offseason is the most important one in franchise history. General Manager Martin Mayhew has his work cut out for him. With several key components to the team becoming free agents and the Draft approaching quickly, Mayhew will prove his worth this season.
The Lions have several needs this upcoming offseason. The defense was atrocious down the stretch and into the Playoffs. The offense was not necessarily a complete unit but it was very productive and needs far less work. That being said, it is hard to point out just one position that the Lions could use on defense. With the 23rdpick in the 2012 Draft, the Lions will be hard-pressed to take a defensive player.
