The first released depth chart of the 2013 season. Of course, not much is put into early preseason depth charts when the team hasn’t even played a game yet, but there still are some things to take note of as of now. What catches my eye off this depth chart is the tight end position battle as rookie Travis Kelce is ranked ahead of Tony Moeaki. I think the position on the depth chart for the ht ends this year will vary from week-to-week. I have a feeling with the various formations that the Chiefs offense will be lining up in this season, that we will see all 3(Fasano, Kelce, and Moeaki) on the field at the same time, especially in goal line situations. Some other things to note are: Akeem Jordan slotted as starter beside DJ ahead of Nico Johnson Tyler Bray ahead of Ricky Stanzi for 3rd string quarterback Junior Hemingway and Devon Wylie as the 5th and 6th receivers Geoff Schwartz listed as a RT even though he filled in at LG in practices Allen Bailey’s ahead of Austen Lane at defensive end These aren’t big things, especially Lane being behind Bailey, as it is still way too early to really judge how much playing time these guys will receive and where exactly they will be on the depth chart. This Friday the Chiefs travel to New Orleans to face the Saints in their first preseason game so after that game, I’m sure we will be able to better judge the roster as a whole.
