Aside from Peyton Manning’s return to Indianapolis, the most talked about storyline of yesterday’s NFL action was the controversial pushing call that cost the Patriots a shot at a win against the division rival Jets. During a 56-yard field goal attempt from the Jets’ Nick Folk in overtime, Patriots rookie lineman Chris Jones was flagged for pushing teammate Will Svitek forward at the snap and into the Jets’ offensive lineman Damon Harrison. Folk’s kick missed wide right, but the Jones’ penalty meant the Jets got a free 15 yards and, more importantly, another shot at a game-winning field goal. They didn’t miss the second time. The unsportsmanlike penalty on Jones is a result of a new rule that was put into effect this past offseason and was the first instance of it being called so far this season, but was it enforced correctly? Many are saying yes, but some details in the NFL’s official rulebook may indicate otherwise…and the NFL may have acted swiftly to cover it up. Below is a scre...

A national audience settled in to watch the return of Peyton Manning to Indianapolis, where he started his illustrious NFL career. With Peyton Manning playing in Indianapolis for the first time since becoming a member of the Denver Broncos, how could any other game the NFL be game of the week?
The one thing that Jim Irsay, owner of the Indianapolis Colts, should have thought about before he stupidly opened his mouth this week on the subject of Manning and his time with the Colts was how his comments were going...

Jones already admitted he did not know the rule, nor did he know what was going on when the flag was thrown. It appears Bill Belichick didn’t fully know the rule either...

With the Jets trying for a 58 yard game winning field goal in overtime, the Patriots committed a penalty by having one of their defensive players much his teammate into a Jets player.
The ruling has received much controversy, as it was correctly called as the act is in violation of new rule 913, however the league apparently did a poor job of explaining this to teams.
Alex Boone is a little scary. I think Colin was a little shocked at the whole thing. See the craziness below:
