With no big surprise, the Cardinals placed the franchise tag on free agent defensive end Calais Campbell over the weekend. Under the new collective bargaining agreement, Campbell stands to make $10.6 million in 2012 if he can’t agree to a long-term deal with Arizona. A starter for the past three seasons Campbell totaled 72 tackles and eight sacks in 2011.
Even though the Peyton Manning rumors continue to grow louder, starting quarterback Kevin Kolb is still there. Kolb’s $7 million offseason roster bonus is due on March 17th, but they won’t have to pay it if they release him before then. If Manning is available, after he is presumably cut in a couple days by Indy to avoid a $28 million roster bonus of his own, and the Cards are interested, they’ll have eight days to determine if he’s fit to play before they release Kolb.

A mattress company based in Arizona has erected a billboard near an interstate in Phoenix which reads "Please Sleep Here!" in an attempt to lure the unrestricted free agent quarterback to the Cardinals.
Arizona Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett has made it clear that he would love to see Peyton Manning come to the Cardinals.
Dockett tweeted, “Peyton to AZ!!!!!!”
“Look yall, I like all our QB’s, I don’t care who the QB is we are gonna win the west either way! but damn who wouldn’t wanna play w/ peyton!”
It’s not that Dockett doesn’t believe in Kevin Kolb,...
For Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt, the decision to play in the Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 5 was an easy one. But that doesn't mean he isn't aware of the risk involved.
Mike Leach the pirate... Screw up once and walk the plank.
On Saturday our own Victory Bell weighed in on the Sekope Kaufusi dismissal asking the question that very few people even seem willing to consider; Is Mike Leach’s zero tolerance policy a good policy? My answer to that is an unequivocal “no”. In fact I think it is completely senseless and totally at odds with his role...
Mike Jureci of XTRA 910 in Phoenix is reporting the the Arizona Cardinals have no interest in Hines Ward. This was probably the one spot that Ward thought if no one else signs me these guys will. With all the relationships Hines has in Arizona he had to be counting on these guys after the Steelers let him go.
Ward has one other place where I fully expect him to land. I think...

According to Mike Jurecki of Xtra 910 in Phoenix, the Arizona Cardinals aren’t interested in signing wide receiver Hines Ward once he’s officially released from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Cardinals are the first team we would think would be interested in Ward, since Ken Wisenhunt was the Steelers offensive coordinator from 2004-2006.
I can’t be mad at the Cardinals for not...
With Peyton Manning on the verge of officially being on the market, a bunch of middling quarterbacks are about to get their feelings hurt. We already mentioned that yesterday, 49ers legend Jerry Rice was openly campaigning for San Francisco to land Pey-Pey, despite Alex Smith coming off a career year. A career year for Alex Smith, to be sure, but still.
Turns out no crappy NFC...

According to Paul Calvisi of ArizonaSports.com, a mattress company in Arizona has taken it upon themselves to do what they can to try to get quarterback Peyton Manning to sign with the Arizona Cardinals.
As we can see R&S Mattress as erected a billboard that will remain up for the next two weeks to encourage Manning to come to Arizona.

Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts have finally parted ways. The tears have finally dried, and now it's time for Peyton to find a new home for his surgically-repaired neck.
Finally, the TRUE reality TV show of 2012 is here - the Peyton Manning Derby. Where will Eli's big brother sign?
The mainstream NFL media (especially those at "The Bristol Improv") would...
