At 6’1’ 210 pounds Reshad Jones is a big safety coming off of his best season to date. He was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the fifth round (163rd overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft and steadily improved each year since. Jones, 25, had planned to skip OTAs last month, but he showed up in exchange for "ongoing" long-term contract discussions. Pro Football Focus' No. 3 safety last season, Jones is unhappy about his contract situation and the fact the team spent so much in the offseason without addressing him. In the final year of his contract, Jones will get the chance to show his value on the field and the cash in either with the Dolphins or through free agency [provided the Dolphins not use the franchise tag on him]. In 2012, He led his team with four interceptions to go along with two fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, one sack, and nine passes defensed. “I can only get better,” said Jones, via Andy Kent of MiamiDolphins.com. “I got the ball rolling in the right direction and I just told myself I want to be recognized as one of the premiere safeties in this league. I think last year I went out and showed that to the world and I just want to keep it going.” “It’s a tough league and it’s tough every Sunday when you go out and play, but we know who we’re going to face and the quarterbacks we have to see,” Jones said. “It always comes down to the DBs and winning and losing is always predicated on us and winning our one-on-one battles. I think we’ll be ready for the challenge.”
