The Miami Dolphins have signed receiver Julius Pruitt, promoting the former Ouachita Baptist standout from the practice squad to supplement the team’s limited depth at receiver
The Dolphins also announced that starting cornerback Vontae Davis and reserve defensive end Phillip Merling have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against Kansas City.
This will be the fourth game Davis has missed this season, but the first three were because of a lingering hamstring injury. The Dolphins designated the reason for Davis being sidelined for this Sunday’s game as “non-injury” related, which hints that it’s discipline related.
The same goes for Merling, who has been ruled out earlier this season for disciplinary reasons.
Merling, a 2008 second-round pick, who is in the final year of his contract, has been inactive for four games this season. Igor Olshansky has leapfrogged him on the depth chart.
Davis, a 2009 first-round pick, will be missed because the Dolphins’ secondary has struggled all season...
