DAVIE, Fla. The Miami Dolphins unveiled their new logo and uniforms Thursday night at Sun Life Stadium, shortly before the start of the NFL Draft.
Considered the fifth logo in the teams 48-year history, the modernized design still includes a dolphin against an image of the suns rays. Unlike earlier versions, the new-look dolphin does not wear a helmet.
The logo also represents a return to the franchises original aqua and orange color scheme.
I never was a big fan of a dolphin with a helmet on it, but thats the one we had, former Dolphins quarterback Bob Griese said. (The new one) looks confident, it looks stronger, it looks ready to battle.
The new Nike uniforms include a lighter, brighter color palatte that recalls the franchises roots and colors.
