New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is confident that he’ll get a new deal done before free agency begins on March 13th, that will keep him in New Orleans for years to come.
Brees was asked if it’s important to get a deal done within the next month.
“Yes, yes, absolutely,” Brees said. “My goal, and I know just from my conversations with (Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis), is that we get a deal done prior to free agency. That’s absolutely the goal. And there’s no doubt in my mind that we will.”
Brees indicated that his agent Tom Condon and the Saints have resumed talks.
“We’ve just started talking. But I really think things after the Super Bowl will pick up full steam ahead,” Brees said.
The Saints would rather not use the franchise tag on Brees so they can use it on another player if need be.
