It may sound odd after leading the NFL in total offense in 2012, but some of the Patriots’ biggest offseason needs come on offense. The only wide receiver guaranteed to be back next season is Matthew Slater — a primary special teamer — and the right side of the New England offensive line could also see a makeover in 2013. That’s why wide receiver and offensive line will be two units the Patriots will look to improve this offseason. If Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd don’t come back, the Patriots will need to find replacements. Percy Harvin and Dwayne Bowe present two appealing options for New England at wide receiver. The Patriots may not be able to afford both players, but the team’s window for another Super Bowl is closing, and it might make sense to spend big while the potential for another ring still exists. NESN.com assistant editor Doug Kyed and NFL editor Luke Hughes discuss New England’s biggest offensive needs on this week’s NFL podcast. Listen in the player below, or subscrib...

The opening odds to win the 2014 Super Bowl have the Patriots at 6-1, Niners...

Last season, the Patriots spent their franchise tag on Wes Welker and I’m not so convinced they are going to tag him again, nor do I think they should. Throughout this process there have been three players that are possible options for a Patriots franchise tag: Welker...
