The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a huge scare at the beginning of training camp when defensive tackle Mike Patterson suffered a seizure during practice and was later diagnosed with a brain arteriovenous malformation–which is a tangle of blood vessels in the skull. While Patterson will either need surgery or radiation treatment to fix the AVM, it appears he can wait longer than originally expected to do so.
According to the team site, Patterson was told he could wait until after the 2011 season to fix the condition after seeing three specialists. However, Patterson will take medication to prevent seizures during the 2011 season.
