A Philadelphia Eagles fan decided to celebrate his beloved NFL team’s first Super Bowl title by getting a tattoo. While fans getting inked to commemorate a championship is relatively commonplace, Eagles backer Dan Morgan opted to go the unconventional route with his tattoo.

Fans typically will get “Super Bowl Champs,” the Lombardi Trophy, the team’s logo or something along those lines with title tattoos. Morgan, however, paid tribute to a critical play in the Eagles’ 41-33 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. How? By getting the diagram of the “Philly Special” trick play inked into his arm.

The “Philly Special” play of course came on a 4th down play late in the first half when Eagles tight end Trey Burton hit a wide open Nick Foles in the end zone for a touchown.

“It took only about an hour to complete,” Morgan told NJ.com. “I went to Headlight Tattoo in Westville. I called around noon to see if they could take a walk-in.

“It seemed like most people either were adding on a Lombardi trophy or just getting something including it. I wanted mine to be less obvious. Random people are going to see it and maybe take a minute but many will get it.”

Morgan of course was wise to wait until after the Eagles won their championship to get his tattoo. It goes without saying doing so saved him from potential embarrassment due to a predictive tattoo gone awry, as has been the case on countless previous occasions.

Let’s just say this Patriots fan may be feeling some regret over prognosticating a victory in Super Bowl LII, although at least he had an admirable contingency plan.
