The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly gotten their man at linebacker. The Eagles have agreed to a trade with Houston Texans to acquire Former Pro Bowl Linebacker DeMeco Ryans for a mid-round pick or picks according to conflicting reports.  The story was first reported by Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer on twitter.

DeMeco Ryans is a 27 year old linebacker out of Alabama.  Ryans has been durable and impactful, starting every game for the Texans since 2006, except for in 2010 when he rupture his left achilles tendon.  Ryans has been a starter from his first day in the NFL, and was selected to the 2009 Pro Bowl when he notched 123 tackles and 1 sack.  His numbers have declined over the past 2 seasons as the Texans have moved to a 3-4 defense and away from where Ryans is more comfortable, in a 4-3.

Philadelphia Eagles fans seemed to get punched in the gut today when one of the targets at linebacker, Stephen Tulloch, agreed to remain with the Detroit Lions on a 5-year deal.  Once again, the Eagles organization was able to keep things quiet while they worked this deal out.  The move seemingly came out of nowhere.

Stay with Philly Sports World for more analysis on this trade…

In the meantime… this… from his days in Alabama.
