Newly re-signed OG Evan Mathis spoke yesterday for the first time about his new $25.5 million/5 year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Mathis revealed that he and GM Howie Roseman agreed that Mathis would test the waters of free agency in order to figure out a pricetag to place on the self-described journeyman. So, thanks for that, Baltimore.
Though Mathis was complimentary of the Ravens organization, he simply found it too difficult to leave the comforts of Philadelphia, now his home, the talents of his teammate, and of course, offensive line coach Howard Mudd.
“I knew the family atmosphere, the talent on the team, the talent on the coaching staff and the front office, and the direction the organization was headed. I knew exactly what was here.”
Mathis also liked the Eagles’ to hang on to and take care of proven talent like fellow 0-lineman Todd Herremans, DE Trent Cole, and WR DeSean Jackson.

Will Plaxico Burress wear another shade of green in 2012?
WR Plaxico Burress wants to be a Philadelphia Eagle. He can’t make that any more clear. Burress was open about that desire last offseason when he famously emerged from prison wearing a Phillies hat. And even before his one-year contract with the Jets expired, he made that interest known again.
Now, it seems that the Eagles...

Yeremiah was a bullfrog, he was a good friend of Todd. I never understood a single thing Reid did, but he could give Bell the nod.
Sorry, couldn’t help myself.
Yeremiah, of course, is Yeremiah Bell, the recently released safety from Miami. And as fate would have it, Bell played the strong safety position for the Dolphins.
The Eagles were interested...
Evan Mathis, who played high school football in the state of Alabama and for the Crimson Tide, has signed a nice contract in the NFL.
According to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress has been in contact with multiple NFL teams, including the Philadelphia Eagles.
Burress has made it clear that he’d love to play for the Eagles next season, but so far he remains a free man as he tests the free agent market.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired linebacker DeMeco Ryans from the Houston Texans for a fourth-round draft pick.
The teams will also swap third-round draft picks in this year's draft.
Ryans, a two-time Pro Bowler, recorded 64 tackles through 16 games for the Texans last season after seeing his playing time diminish under new defensive...
So far, the Philadelphia Eagles have made the smart moves in free agency. They have reworked the contracts of two pivotal players in Trent Cole and Todd Herremans, re-signed their star wide receiver DeSean Jackson to a long term deal, and brought back guard Evan Mathis to cement their starting offensive line for years to come.
Oh, and they brought back 2008 sixth-round draft...
