The Philadelphia Eagles released defensive end Jason Babin and placed wide receiver DeSean Jackson on injured reserve due to his fractured ribs Tuesday.
Coming off a career-best 18 sacks last season, Babin was expected to be a leader for the Eagles to spearhead the defense towards becoming a championship-caliber unit.
However, he and his team (losers of seven straight games) have fallen far from expectations this season. Through 11 contests, Babin registered 5.5 sacks, 26 total tackles, a pair of forced fumbles and one tipped pass.

Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha was signed last season to a five-year, $60 million deal, and has not performed well. Backup quarterback Kevin Kolb was shipped to the Arizona Cardinals for CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who has also struggled. And then this ...

Things got worse this year and defensive line coach Jim Washburn, who was Babin'...

One year removed from an 18-sack season, Philadelphia Eagles DE Jason Babin was abruptly released yesterday. I don’t mean to pile-on here, but I can’t say I’m sad to see him go.
In fact, I was very surprised they signed him (again) in 2011.
I normally do not play the “I told you so” game, but…I told you so. Back in June of 2011, I wrote an article saying why I didn’t...
