Playing for the first time since suffering a concussion on Nov. 11, Michael Vick went 19-for-35 for 197 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Performance is one thing, but effort is a different matter entirely and after the game Sunday, a frustrated Vick seemed to question the effort of his teammates.
The question posted to Vick: In the locker room, a lot of players talked about a lack of fight for this team today so how does that happen, and why did it happen?
I dont know how that happens, Vick said. You watch us play, and we dont [exude] the things that we do in practice. I dont know where that comes from. I know its frustrating. Its difficult because me, I leave it all out on the field, and I give it everything I got. Sometimes I wish I could play other positions, but I cant, so you do the best you can. Thats all you can ask of yourself. Football means a lot to a lot of the guys in the locker room, and I know it means a lot to me. I give it everything I got whenever I step out on the field, regardless of the situation. Coming back after eight games? I dont care, I give it everything I got. Thats something I can be proud about.
Minutes later, Vick tried to reel his words back in.
Lets clear this up, he said Im not saying my teammates gave a lack of effort, and I noticed it. I just know that we can play better. Thats what Im saying.
But what was said was said and after the press conference, Vick told CSNs Derrick Gunn that he did see a lack of effort by a lot of guys.

Michael Vick was brutally honest when providing his opinion as to exactly what went wrong with the Eagles this season, saying a "lack of effort" was "very evident."
At this point, it appears the only way quarterback Michael
Vick will remain with the Philadelphia Eagles beyond this season is if he
agrees to restructure his contract, something the veteran is not willing to do,
according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Would Vick be willing to renegotiate his contract? He
declined to speculate on such a premise earlier this week...
Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that an NFL source has informed him that Eagles QB Michael Vick is not willing to renegotiate his contract to remain with the team beyond the 2012 season.
It’s widely expected that the Eagles will cut Vick loose in the coming weeks, but there’s still a chance that they could approach him about possibly restructuring his current...
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick criticized teammates after coach Andy Reid was fired Monday. The Eagles just completed a 4-12 season and Reid was let go after 14 years on the job. Vick ripped the team for showing a lack of effort. "It's all about focus, dedication and commitment," Vick said via CSNPhilly.com. "Until you get guys who are willing...
After Sunday’s blow out loss to the Giants, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick voiced his frustrations with how poorly his teammates played.“You watch us play and we don’t exhibit the things that we do in practice,” Vick said. “It’s frustrating. Michael Vick is disappointed that the Philadelphia Eagles’ poor 4-12 season cost head coach Andy Reid his job, and he’s particularly upset with numerous teammates who he felt did not give a strong enough effort this season.
Though Vick did not call out specific individuals, he indicated there was an attitude problem throughout the team’s locker room.
“It’s all about focus...
Michael Vick’s 2012 season appeared done just a week ago, but funny things happen in the NFL. Rookie QB Nick Foles broke his hand and Vick was named as the starter for the Eagles season finale. Not only is Vick making the last regular season start for the Philadelphia Eagles, he’s likely making his last start as a member of the Eagles.
An unnamed source told the Philadelphia...
In what was likely his final game as a Philadelphia Eagle, quarterback Michael Vick threw for 197 yards, one touchdown and one pick Sunday in his first action since Week 10.Fantasy Spin:Vick missed six games after suffering a concussion and losing the starting job to Nick Foles when he was close to being recovered. However, Foles' injury in Week 16 opened the door for one last Vick appearance.
Clearly Michael Vick’s season didn’t go as he would’ve hoped. On New Year’s Eve Vick sounded off about the lack of effort from his teammates this season and his feeling that they let former head coach Andy Reid down. “It’s all about focus, dedication and commitment,” Vick insisted. “Until you get guys who are willing to better [...]
Marcus Vick, the younger brother of Michael Vick was a terrific quarterback when he played at Virginia Tech. As a Junior he threw for 2,868 yards with 19 TDs and rushed for 492 yards with 6 TDs. Vick led Virginia Tech to an 11-2 record that year and a victory in the Gator Bowl where they scored 22 unanswered points to defeat Louisville 35-24. Marcus Vick showed flashes of brilliance...
I know it took an injury to starting QB Nick Foles for this to happen, but it's good to see Michael Vick back as the starter for the Philadelphia Eagles as they close the season out against the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants on Sunday afternoon. It appears this will be the last time we'll see Vick in an Eagles uniform, as the team will almost certainly experience...
By all accounts, Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid will find himself unemployed sometime soon. Possibly today, on what has become Black Monday for NFL coaches. Reid has had a stellar career as head coach of the Eagles. But his demise can be traced to one decision. When the Eagles decided to sign Michael Vick in 2009 as a backup to Donovan McNabb, it was a feel-good story. Everyone...
Will today be Andy Reid’s swan song? This is it. The final game of the 2012 season for the Philadelphia Eagles will unfold this afternoon at the Meadowlands. Sitting at 4-12, there are no playoff aspirations for this team. There are only questions of what’s to come. What’s in store in the year ahead for Mike Vick, who will today lead the Birds for perhaps the last time. His...
On Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles fired coach Andy Reid after finishing the season 4-12. Quarterback Michael Vick had a strong relationship with Reid, who brought him in after he was discharged from prison. Standing at his locker for possibly the last time, Vick called out his teammates.
“It's all about focus, dedication and commitment,” Vick insisted. “Until you...
NewsBack on September 3rd, I wrote an article with four predictions about the 2012 Philadelphia Eagles.
Now that the season has come to an end, let’s take a look back at those predictions and see which ones I hit and missed on.
