Only days after restructuring quarterback Michael Vick's contract; the Philadelphia Eagles have signed quarterback Dennis Dixon to a two-year contract on Thursday.Dixon was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 5th round of the 2008 draft. He just so happened to play his college days for new Eagles head coach Chip Kelly.Over his career; Dixon played in 4 games for the Steelers completing 35-59 passes for 402 yards, 2 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and 2 fumbles. Too bad Dixon is not playing poker with all of those twos. It's interesting that the Eagles signed Dixon after they reworked Vick's contract unless they plan on playing the quarterbacks together in wildcat packages and the offense that Kelly likes to run.The Eagles could have reworked the contract for Vick to make him easier to move. After all he was benched after being injured in a 38-23 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. For the season Vick completed 58.1 percent of his passes for 2,362 yards, 13 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and 11 fumbles. He also had 332 yards rushing.2012 was the second season in a row that Vick struggled in Philadelphia that led to his benching in favor of rookie Nick Foles; and the eventual firing of longtime head coach Andy Reid. When Foles stepped in for Vick; he completed 79.1 percent of his passes for 1,699 yards, 7 touchdowns, 5 interceptions, and 8 fumbles. It was led to believe that Foles was the future for the Eagles at quarterback until he was injured and missed the final game of the season. Now with the quarterbacks in camp; there is no telling what will happen in 2013 for the Eagles. If Kelly is going to recruit his former players from Oregon; he should reach out to the San Francisco 49ers about the availability of running back LaMichael James. With Frank Gore heading the way out of the backfield and Kendall Hunter recovering from injury; their really is not much room in the 49ers backfield for James to get much playing time in 2013.
