I thought it would play out to be a closer contest, with the Eagles depleted by a host of injuries and the memory of a bad outing against the Saints, and the Kansas City Chiefs coming off a near-victory over Oakland last week.
But Philadelphia made it look easy, taking charge of the game early and pasting the Chiefs, 34-14, on a day that was remarkable not just for the way Eagle backup QB Kevin Kolb tore apart the K.C. defense for 324 passing yards, 2 aerial TD's and one rushing TD of his own, but also for the utter failure of Matt Cassel and his Chiefs' offense to counter with any sustained threat at all.
I expected more, a lot more from Cassel and the Chiefs. True, their best offensive play-makers, Derrick Johnson and Dwayne Bowe, were unable to play due to their injury status. But still, I expected the Chiefs to muster more than the 196 total yards they accumulated, with so many 3-and-outs I lost count.
