The Philadelphia Eagles made a pair of moves on Wednesday announcing the team has released OT Demetress Bell and added OLB/DE Chris McCoy.
Bell, 28, was signed last offseason after receiving devastating news that All-Pro tackle Jason Peters sustained a ruptured Achilles tendon during an offseason workout. Bell was initially slated to be the incumbent starter for the 2012 season but failed to grasp Howard Mudd’s scheme. Bell’s inability to rise to the ocassion forced the Eagles to implement 2008 seventh-round pick King Dunlap.
The Eagles offensive line was in shambles as the coaching staff tried their best to mix and match players, signed players from the outside like Jake Scott, just to give the offense the best possible chance of succeeding — we know now that never happened.
Wednesday wasn’t just about parting ways with incompetent players however. The Eagles also added OLB/DE Chris McCoy out of the Canadian Football League.
