Eagles to place franchise tag on Vick

The Eagles are likely to use the franchise tag on Michael Vick this week, according to several reports. The Eagles have until Feb. 24th to place the tag on him; however, it's not certain that it will hold due to the collective bargaining agreement ending on March 3rd. If it stands, the Eagles will have Vick through 2011, and will most likely try to move Kevin Kolb. Also, the Eagles announced that they have placed the transition tag on kicker David Akers. Under rules of the past collective bargaining agreement, the transition tag allowed teams to match any offer given to the designated player in free agency.Vick was selected to start the Pro Bowl, his fourth trip to Hawaii in eight seasons. He set career highs in yards passing (3,018), touchdowns passing (21), touchdowns rushing (9), completion percentage (62.6) and passer rating (100.2).
