Ed Donatell sure didnt sound Tuesday like an assistant coach ready to leave his post as 49ers secondary coach to become the Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator, a move that one Philadelphia broadcaster projected last week.
Donatell is in his second season on coach Jim Harbaughs staff. He confirmed that he would like, at some point, return to a defensive coordinator role, having previously served in that capacity for the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons.
I definitely aspire to do that, but I also know a good thing, Donatell said Tuesday during the 49ers Media Day session for Super Bowl XLVII. Its set up so we can have some nice years here.
Donatell is under contract with the 49ers for next season, so they could block any potential interest other teams might have in him. Donatell said hes had no official contact with the Eagles, whove hired Chip Kelly as their coach.
Jim Harbaugh has created such a great working environment that nobody is in any hurry to get out of here, Donatell said. Theres no question this stuff will be putting out guys (as head coaches) in the next couple years, guys like Greg Roman, Vic Fangio, Brad Seely, Jim Tomsula, and on and on. Weve got great assistants.

Jim Harbaugh has worn a red sharpie around his neck for the last two years. But, first things first.
“I take offense at you calling it a necklace. It’s a whistle,” Harbaugh said on Monday. “A coach should go to practice with a whistle and I just clip a pen on it. It’s really not complicated at all.”
Now that we got that covered the next logical question would be the reason...
Jim Harbaugh doesn’t understand all this highfalutin internets hogwash, consarnit!
One way to demonstrate to the world that you have no idea nor understanding of what something is or its impact on the world, it is by placing the article “the” in front of the name of it when there is no need for its inclusion. What can really drive the point home that a person might be out of...
There are often some gems to be unearthed from coach Jim Harbaugh's press conferences. One occurred last week when a reporter asked him about potential off-field rules for his players for Super Bowl week. When Harbaugh said, "Yeah, we'll have a schedule. We'll have rules." When asked whether he would share those rules with the media, Harbaugh said, "...

Jim Harbaugh has stones the size of Alcatraz. It's one of the five big reasons why the 49ers can win the Super Bowl.
Not much setting up needed for this one. World Wide Interweb has tracked down and compiled some photos of San Francisco 49ers players (and their head coach, Jim Harbaugh) and Baltimore Ravens players (and their coach, John Harbaugh) as they were when they were much, much younger, long before these men were preparing to play in all likelihood the biggest game of their lives on the...
Super Bowl XLVII is closing in and there’s plenty to talk about. John Harbaugh, Baltimore Ravens head coach and Jim Harbaugh, San Francisco head coach, are squaring off in the biggest sibling rivalry match in the NFL since the Manning brothers played each other during the 2010 regular season. John and Jim Harbaugh are barely [...]
(Eds: With AP Photos.) By TIM DAHLBERG AP Sports Columnist John Harbaugh had just finished answering the masked man in front of him when a caped crusader from a children's network swooped in to ask how he really felt about his brother.
''I think that's a very provocative question from Nickelodeon,'' the Ravens coach said, not bothering to hide a smile. &...
Seeing him on the sidelines, NFL fans may develop less-than-sparkling opinions of 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh. But behind the scenes, he’s a fun, well-respected man to both players and media.

The Ravens and 49ers will play in Super Bowl XLVII but they are two completely different football teams
The last name of their head coach, Harbaugh. That is where the similarities stop for the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. The two teams who will play against each other in Super Bowl XLVII have very little in common from the top down. San Francisco has a history with the...
NEW ORLEANS -- San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh doesn't seem particularly worried about outside linebacker Aldon Smith's sack drought heading in Super Bowl XLVII. Smith finished second in the NFL behind Houston's J.J. Watt with 19.5 sacks during the regular season, but hasn't logged one since Week 14. Part of his failure to get to the quarterback could be...
Super Bowl fever is in full force and rightfully so as this years matchup most likely will be the most gambled single sporting event of all time. Although, I can say I am a bit worn out and emotionally perplexed after religiously betting NFL games week to week, my spirit is picking up and I am ready for one more run; hopefully I end the season on a high note. After doing some minor...
