Eddie Lacy will become the latest running back to attempt filling the shoes of the irreplaceable Marshawn Lynch after signing a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks. While Lacy understands there’s no way to truly replace “Beast Mode,” he vows to give the “best impression” of the celebrated running back as possible.

Not only that, Lacy is eager to prove himself after injuries and struggles with weight typified the latter stages of his Green Bay Packers career.

“I’m very motivated to prove myself,” he said, via the Seahawks’ website. “I know what I’m able to do, but I just want to go out and show everybody that I can do it and will do it. I just can’t wait to get my chance.”

Lacy, entering his fifth NFL season, is also eager to prove he hasn't already hit his peak, as he was mostly ineffective or injured in the previous two campaigns.

“[I] just want to come out and showcase what I can do, prove that I’m not a fluke, that I can do what I do and do it really well,” Lacy added.

As for the monumental task of replacing Lynch, Lacy believes there are some similarities between himself and the retired running back.

“I’ve always favored Marshawn Lynch’s running style, and that’s something Pete Carroll definitely likes,” Lacy said. “I’m going to come in and do my best impression of him and just bring my hard work and my hard running style to the table.”

The Seahawks opted to sign Lacy over other available options, including Adrian Peterson, signing the back to an incentive-laden deal worth up to $5.55 million, with $2.865 million in fully guaranteed money. The incentives reportedly include a $385,000 bonus contingent on Lacy maintaining his weight.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said this week the team expects Lacy to be in his 240s. Given the running back topped out at a reported 267 pounds during his free agency visits, the onus is on Lacy to get in shape before training camp to make good on his word.
