There are priorities and then there are priorities. New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker said he missed two days of voluntary on-field practice last week so that he could accompany his wife, signer Jessie James, at the CMT Awards in Nashville. Before anyone gets bent out of shape about the Jets giving him a five-year deal worth $36.25 million, the decision came following the blessing of head coach Rex Ryan. “When your wife gives birth and goes through nine months of tough days to give you a child, you respect the woman a lot more,” Decker said via the New York Post. “Obviously, she’s very important to me and her career is very important to me as well.” While some are not happy that Decker chose his wife over the Jets, the wide receiver sums it up saying, “A marriage is give and take,” “Any relationship is give and take. It’s funny how this became such a story. It was an opportunity to get down there [to Nashville] and be around our friends and be around the music industry that sh...

Jets safety Josh Bush: I’m the LeBron James of bowling

Rex Ryan had a surprise in store for the Jets Thursday, foregoing a fourth-consecutive day of OTA practices to take the entire team bowling. Chemistry-building activities are nothing new to Ryan, who in the past has treated his squad to impromptu movie screenings, games of paintball, and visits from the military. Bowling, however, is something he sees a lot of value in. "...

Familiar names of NFL Free Agents remain available

The 2014 NFL Draft is over; the OTA’s have begun; and yet several familiar names of NFL Free Agents remain available.  Here are some notables and some reasons why they remain unsigned. Santonio Holmes helped the Pittsburgh Steelers win Super Bowl XLIII, and was named the game’s MVP thanks to a spectacular game winning catch.  He played with the Steelers through 2009 and then...

New York Jets QBs Geno Smith, Micahel Vick not named top-20 in the NFL

When cover32 released its list of the top 10 quarterbacks in the NFL today, there were plenty of people angry about their favorite team’s signal caller not making the list. It made for a spirited debate in the “Comments” section below the article. And it also begged another question: How close was Mr. Irate Fan’s QB to making the list? To provide an answer, the editors at...

Mix of injuries, confidence among New York Jets cornerbacks

What exactly do the New York Jets have at cornerback? It’s hard to take a definitive tally these days. You’re presumably a Jets fan if you’re reading this, or maybe you just wandered over to our corner of the Internet by accident. Regardless, you have heard that the Jets’ cornerback situation is not very good, to put it nicely. The Jets let Antonio Cromartie walk during free...

Jets front office staff and coaches do push ups during practice

This is really interesting. Sounds like the Jets front office and coaching staff wanted to make things interesting for one day.  I don’t see it lasting any longer than that. Jets players, coaches and staff do push-ups whenever a penalty is called in practice. Even GM John Idzik did 10 on latest penalty. — Bob Glauber (@BobGlauber) June 11, 2014 var ACE_AR = {Site: '898551...

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan named as one of ten on the hot seat in 2014

The NFL season is upon us. Yes, it’s still six weeks until training camps get started. And sure, the regular-season opener isn’t for 84 days. But with voluntary OTAs and mandatory minicamps underway, every team in the league has already started their preparation for 2014. That means coaching staffs have already begun evaluating talent, molding their roster, installing systems...

Mark Brunell's daughter, Caitlin, wins 'Miss Alabama' crown

Caitlin Brunell got her first taste of the national spotlight -- although unseen -- during the 2010 airing of "Hard Knocks," the award-winning HBO documentary that chronicled the hour-to-hour, day-to-day travails of the enigmatic New York Jets during training camp. At the time, her father -- longtime NFL quarterback Mark Brunell -- was a Jets backup to second-year starter...

Jets WR Coach: Too Soon To Call Stephen Hill A Bust

Stephen Hill has compiled statistics of 45 catches for 594 yards and four touchdowns.   That’s a decent first half of the NFL season for some of the more talented wideouts in the NFL.   Those eye popping numbers from Hill are based off two lackluster seasons in the NFL, and wouldn’t be expected from a highly touted second round pick. Jets wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal told...

The Full Breakdown of Wide Receiver Quincy Enunwa

The Jets selected their third wide receiver of the draft with the 209th selection – Nebraska’s single season touchdown reception leader, Quincy Enunwa. Enunwa was a team captain for the Cornhuskers and a focal point of their passing game. While he is certainly a project at this point, he is a skillful player with a chance to crack the Jets roster if he can impress in training...

Calvin Pryor Doesn’t Like Tom Brady

Julio Cortez | Associated Press Former Louisville safety Calvin Pryor has wasted no time getting acclimated with the New York Jets. Regardless of what round you’re taken in or how highly touted you are coming out of college, when you’re a rookie, you’ve got to earn your stripes. That said, when you’re a bone crushing defensive back it’s hard to step away from the role as...

Jets linebacker Calvin Pace: 'It's going to be a good year, man'

When Calvin Pace does interviews, he speaks in a quiet voice that barely registers above a whisper. He also doesn't often talk to the media. It's not because he's rude, and it's not because he's the sort to big-time a reporter because he's Calvin Pace, veteran outside linebacker for the New York Jets. This is just the way Pace prefers to conduct his affairs...

Report: Feeling around the NFL is Santonio Holmes will get signed once a receiver goes down

Brian Costello of the New York Post caught up with former Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes who continues to wait for a team to sign him. Holmes, who was released by the Jets in March after four seasons, has not been picked up by another team. The 30-year-old wide receiver has been training in Florida since the Jets cut him. Holmes’ camp feels a receiver-needy team will sign...

Jets OL coach on Giacomini: 'He's really hauling ass'

BY NICK ST. DENISOne thing New York Jets coach Rex Ryan likes about the team's new starting right tackle Breno Giacomini is that he's "a finisher."Jets offensive line coach Mike Devlin had a little more colorful way of defining the former Seattle Seahawks blocker's playing style (and we thought that was Rex's job).“He’s really hauling ass, always looking...

Jets Time Capsule: 1976 Season

Feature Image: VSA Auctions Editor: Jets History will now be known as “Jets Time Capsule.” Coaching Change The Jets’ 1975 season had culminated with the team attaining a disappointing 3-11 record. Head Coach Charley Winner — New York’s general since the start of 1974 — was fired after a 2-7 start to 1975 and replaced by Offensive Coordinator Ken Shipp. The results under...

Leaving Peyton Manning for Geno Smith is Like Leaving Kate Upton for Honey Boo Boo’s Mom

During the past two seasons with star quarterback Peyton Manning, Eric Decker was a top-10 wide receiver. As we all know, Decker left Denver for the New York Jets in free agency.  An analogy to Decker’s decision has been drawn, which suggests that leaving Peyton Manning to hook up with Geno Smith is like leaving Kate Upton for Honey Boo Boo’s mom. Eric Decker leaves Peyton Manning...
