New Jets quarterback Tim Tebow draws attention for just about anything and everything he does, both on and off the field, and because of this he’s a lightning rod for criticism.  Now that he’s landed in New York City that microscope he’s under has multiplied by a thousand, and one ex-NFL player thinks that Tebow needs to chill when it comes to the media by trying something he hasn’t ever attempted before…keeping a low profile.

This was former Patriots linebacker and current ESPN analyst Tedy Bruschi’s recommendation to the Jets backup, during an appearance on ESPN’s NFL 32.  Bruschi, though, was pretty glib when he gave his thoughts on how Tebow should act with the national media.

From ESPN New York…

“Stop talking to the media so much,” Bruschi said. “You need to disappear, okay, Tim Tebow? You’re not the starting quarterback, it’s Mark Sanchez’s team. I want my voice to come from my head coach and my quarterback — my starting quarterback. That message has to be consistent.

“I don’t want all this competition brewing, and every time you speak and anytime you talk about competition or anything like that, you’re twisting things. I want one voice. One quarterback, not two,” Bruschi continued.

Look, Bruschi’s thoughts are a result of the Tebow overload that all football fans are suffering from, but I hate to break this to you Tedy, but this isn’t Tebow’s fault.  He didn’t schedule the press conferences with the New York media, the Jets did, and it’s not like they don’t want the guy talking to the press.  And what is Tebow supposed to do if cornered by the media, not talk, but stand there smiling politely?

That approach may play in the sticks, but not in NYC.
