Football Extra Points:
Adrian Peterson and Arian Foster have topped the fantasy RB rankings for years. The torch will be passed this season. Last year AP defied odds and broke 2,000yds coming off a torn ACL. Is this the year he finally slows down? FXP thinks so. Foster has been injury plagued the last few years and it looks like all those carries are finally catching up to here.
Here are the top 5 RB, plus a bonus to keep an eye on:
Doug Martin - Young, healthy and on a team that wants/needs to run.
Adrian Peterson - He's a stud and he's not going away, but he's starting to slow down.
Marshawn Lynch - The Hawks like to run and he can break them anytime.
Jamaal Charles - He has a new coach and threat of a passing game, this will be a good year.
Ray Rice - Flacco may have a big contract but they have no one to catch the ball. Look for Rice to continue to put up numbers.
Reggie Bush has shown some flashing in his career and will be the feature back in Detroit. Th...

At the beginning of the week, the Houston Texans sent Ed Reed to Atlanta to visit his rehab team and now Reed will head to Vail, Colorado to visit his surgeon who performed his hip procedure. These have all been indications that Reed is close to a return to the football field for the Texans.
Coach Kubiak had this to say about Reed:
“Ed will be back, Actually, we’re going...

Per source, Antonio Smith’s appeal was denied today, discipline upheld — two preseason games, and the opener.

Houston Texans defensive end Antonio Smith was denied to have his suspension reduced by the NFL. His appeal was expedited to get a decision before his suspension started on Sunday, but it was all for not. He will have...
Texans defensive lineman Antonio Smith was suspended by the NFL for the final two preseason games and Houston’s season opener for hitting Richie Incognito of the Dolphins with a helmet during last week’s preseason game. According to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, the NFL has denied Smith’s appeal. Per source, Antonio Smith's appeal was denied today, discipline upheld...
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin has made it clear that he doesn't need to play in the team's third preseason game in order to be ready to suit up for Week 1 of the regular season. Still, the top back would like to get a few carries in Saturday against the Miami Dolphins. At this point, head coach Greg Schiano told reporters -- including Joe Smith of The Tampa...
I've been wondering what the Houston Texans cheerleaders are going to do in order to top themselves from one week to the next with their Freestyle Fridays videos. I had assumed that it would be a location thing since the first one was at a grocery store, then two on a practice field, and then last weeks over the freeway in an overpass.
This week they have topped themselves...

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are having to overcome more adversity than just preparing for the regular season.
After Carl Nicks and Lawrence Tynes both came down with serious staff infections, the team had their One Buc Place facility sanitized of all bacteria.
Tynes’ case actually required surgery earlier this week which held him out of their third preseason...
Matt Schaub may not admit it, but he’s under an enormous amount of pressure to produce this season.
The Houston Texans have the necessary parts to make a Super Bowl run, but the most scrutinized player on the team will have to be at his best for the Texans to shake off consecutive first weekend exits in the playoffs.
Schaub understands what is expected of him, and hears the whispers...
HOUSTON (AP) -- Andre Johnson was in midseason form, and the rest of Houston's young receiving group looked pretty good, too.
Johnson had 131 yards receiving before halftime in his first extended work of the preseason Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
But New Orleans' backups scored two touchdowns in the second half to help the Saints to a 31-23 victory.
Tampa Bay cornerback Darrelle Revis will make his Buccaneers' debut against his former team.
A source told FOX Sports on Saturday that Revis will not play in the preseason as he continues recovering from 2012 knee surgery. He is slated to return in the Sept. 8 regular-season opener against the New York Jets, who traded Revis to the Buccaneers during the offseason.
If anything, this was a game that showed the two best teams in the state of Florida can battle it out for four quarters and the last team to score wins.Sounds more like something out of sandlot football, doesn’t it?It wasn’t pretty and it did nothing to make statements on position battles but in the end, Tampa Bay came away with a 17-16 win on the road. It gives them some momentum...
