Former Baltimore Ravens cornerback Chris McAlister is broke and living at home with his parents according to court documents obtained by TMZ.

McAlister, 34 years old, signed a $55M contract in 2004 and 7 years later, has absolutely nothing to show for it.

“I have been unemployed since 2009. I have no income.”

He adds, “I live in my parents' home. My parents provide me with my basic living expenses as I do not have the funds to do so.”

McAlister is also seeking to lower his child support payments from the current amount of $11,000 a month.

Not to sound harsh, but it’s difficult to muster up sympathy for the guy. If a team hasn’t called you since 2009, seek employment elsewhere. You have a child. You’re a man. There’s life after football. Get with the program.

Maybe some of his former teammates will help him out…

  • ooooh poor boy. should have used your college education to find a job. dont feel sorry for you or any other athletes who go broke. welcome to the world of average joes.should have paid attention in college and used your degree. or didnt he graduate from arizona? all athletes are just pawns in a rich mans world. good luck mcalister see you at the unemployment line!!! aint it fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • If he had taken 25M and invested it, he would be making $250,000 a year in interest at 1% in a stupid saving account. After taxes and $11,000 child support he would still bring home $164,000 a year and not have to lift a finger. Cry me a river!!!!!!!!! You can’t fix stupid
  • If I may I would like to shed some light on Chris's situation. First of all a 55 million dollar contract means nothing in the NFL. What he actually recieved was whatever portion of that contract was guarenteed. he is 32 now. in 04 he was what 24 years old! I thin what he is desperately trying to do is lower his child support.
  • no doubt 11000 a month wow but even so I dont feel very sorry for him he still has made more in just a few years than Ill probably make in a lifetime lol if no team has called in 2 years its time to put that degree to work! the courts will probably lower the amount to match his pay scale but hes gotta get a job
  • Give me a break...55 Million lost, dumb as dirt.
This is why the Denver Bronocs sends all thier new players to
a financial planner so stupid is as stupid does won't happen.
  • winegirl thats !!K a month that means132K A YEAR
  • Hey goofball...try to follow along you simpleton. Winegirl is saying (I didn't check her math)that AFTER paying 132K a year in child support and paying taxes, he would still have 164k remaining on his investment. Also, you don't have to use the shift key when making the #1.
  • what is that saying stupid is what stupid does. Instead of flashing that money on those girls and other people, he should have put away. You got the girl!!!!!!!! I know she is laughing right to the bank. And I will see you to at the welfare line.
  • no sympathy for this fool!
  • I heard a stat on espn today that 70 or 80 percent of ex nfl players are broke within a few years after leaving the pros guess its hard to stop living the high life after the money stops coming in and Im sorry but its very hard to feel sorry for them
  • All NFL NBA players should go from, getting their signing bonus to getting a vasectomy. They can be reversed later if need be. Meanwhile, it is your secret, if your hanger on girlfriend gets pregnant, you will know where you stand.
  • You guys see the big number but really don't see the expense and the life style. The contract seems like a lot of money but the payout is a different story ask mcnabb. Most agents are lawyers or have mbas. They take a significant cut along with players union.Couple that with not living up to the entire terms of the contract and a divorce or ill legitimate chidren ouch! The fact is he I would say he actually pocketed maybe 15 % of the signed contract.
  • ridiculous, as the saying goes you can take the brother off the street but you cant take the street out of the brother
  • I'm sorry, but I don't feel any sympathy for him. I spent 20 years in the ARMY and made a good living and saved enough to get started in the real world. Yeah the economy is bad but I managed to find work. GET OFF OF YOUR BACKSIDE AND GET A JOB!
  • i have 2 trains of thought on this one...
    1) im sure that he has SOME money somewhere...sounds like good tactical legal advice in an attempt to get that 11 k a month dropped to something a little more reasonable for a person who isnt making the kind of money they used to...been there and done that!
2)nobody mentioned the ex-wife! i think the majority of us raise our children on less than 11 grand a month so why cant she tighten up the belt a little??? we dont know because it wasnt mentioned but how is she living??? bet not in rags and in a 1 bedroom apt. yes he should be a man and help raise his child(ren) but it wasnt mentioned if he owes back support so he might be making the payments...i just think there are too many facts that we dont know and dont need to know before crucifying him.
  • Child Support is a scam, a rip off, Slavery, extortion. On the surface it sounds innocent, because its says Child, that maks you think of innocence, but the reality is that its anything but innocent and fair. Both Parents should have equal time with their Child,i'm talking 50/50, both Parents should spend an equal amount of money out of their pay checks to support thier Child. How many Women or Men thats sitting at Home on the Sofa watching Jerry Springer and Maury would agree to that type of arraingment? Its too fair!!!! The Attorney General bleeds the non custodial parent dry, runs them into the ground, until they are dead and after that, they will see whats left and get that, yes, they will and they have. The Child Support culture, Mon gets Check, Dad works, lives off what is left over. Mom refuses to let the Dad see the kids, Dad reports this to the Attorney General, they refer Dad to legal aid. But when Mom is missing a Check, the Attorney General provides the Mom with an Attorney free of Charge, have the Cops hunt down Dad, arrest Dad, throw him in Jail or Prison, Dad has to somehow pay for an Attorney with the little Money that he has, if any, to repreent him, most men don't have the money to pay for an Attorney, so they go to Prison and commit suicide in their Jail Cells.
If this Guy is broke, thats too bad, because his ex Parasitic Wife could really put it to good use.
I hope this Guy has no problem with visiting his Chldren. I hope that he is not the dumb Jock that some people want to make him out to be, that he stashed not just some of that money, but all of it somewhere, and keep it hidden.
No matter what, everyone, even the Attorney General will have to account for everything that they did on this Earth the day that they are face to face with the Saints, not the Foodball Team Saints.
Remember, Child Support is not soley Money, its equal time spent with both Parents, equal Money, equal, 50/50, now thats fair. His ex wife should be made to come up with matching $11,000, every single month, see how that works out and if she can't or refuse to do it, then throw her in Jail or Prison. Same for all of the other Women just sitting at Home, waiting for that Check.
