In late December 2012, during an interview on the "Scott Van Pelt Show" former Detroit Lions tackle Lomas Brown admitted to allowing an opponent to inure quarterback Scott Mitchell. "We were playing Green Bay in Milwaukee," Brown said. "We were getting beat 24-3 at that time and he just stunk up the place, throwing interceptions, just everything. I looked at Kevin Glover, our All-Pro center, and said, 'Glove, that is it. I'm getting him out of the game.' So I gave it the set out, but I got the gator arms on the guy at the last minute. He got around me, hit Scott Mitchell, he did something to his finger, I don't know what finger it was, but he came out of the game. Dave Krieg came into the game and we ended up losing that game 27 to 24." Mitchell then responded to Brown's comments in an interview with the "Dan Patrick Show" days later saying: "It just really hurt. It was extremely disappointing. I'm really shocked by it, to be honest. Here's a guy I've had in my house, I had a big dinner for the offensive linemen every year, he came to my house and ate dinner. I gave my offensive linemen gifts every year. For him to do that is just reprehensible, beyond words. It's really disappointing, it really is painful. When you mess with my family, mess with my livelihood, mess with my health, it's unacceptable. It's B.S. I just wouldn't do it to a teammate. I wouldn't do it. If Lomas has a problem with me, come talk to me. To try to get someone hurt, it's just mind-boggling." But now it appears that the two have squashed it. According to Mike O'hara of DetroitLions.com, Lomas played back the interview to hear himself and was horrified by the realization that he had been so callous with his remarks. He then called Mitchell and says the two had a long conversation and parted as friends. "That was the most hurtful part, how I said it," Brown told O'Hara. "You can hear the excitement in my voice. It was just wrong. I just really made myself sick when I heard myself. "It was foolish. If that would have been me getting a phone call from me after what I said, I wouldn't have reacted the way Scott reacted. I would have been mad. I wouldn't have been laughing on the phone with me. "Scott wasn't like that." Source: MLive.com
