I’m sure you’re sick of hearing about how the New England Patriots and Tom Brady got screwed at the end of the loss to the Carolina Panthers this past weekend. If you don’t already know how it went down, all you have to do is turn on ESPN, who will be talking about this for months, along with what LeBron had for dinner and where Brett Favre was seen getting gas this week. As time expired and Tom Brady made one last throw into the endzone, the Panther defense employed the bear hugging technique on Rob Gronkowski , drawing a flag for the hold; however, after a conference the referee who threw the flag was convinced to pick it up and wave it off; thus, ending the game. Why was the flag waived? The answer from the referee was that the throw was uncatchable and the tight end could not have made a play on the ball. The NFL office has since backed the officials’ ruling, but many people see it as it being impossible for Gronkowski to make a play on the ball because the defender was practically spooning him.   So what is considered an uncatchable ball? According to ex-NFL referee Jim Daopoulus in a recent interview with USA Today, an uncatchable ball is something thrown by Tim Tebow. Here was his answer to the question below.   “We as officials have always been taught, for a ball to be uncatchable, it has to be clearly out of the field of play or it has to be a kind of — I probably shouldn’t say this — a Tim Tebow-type pass that lands 15 yards in front of you.”   Watch the video of the no-call below then follow that up by watching the video of a Tim Tebow thrown ball and you be the judge.       online poll by Opinion Stage 9 total views, 9 views today
