Former New England Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe is urging Massachusetts lawmakers to end a ban on direct wine shipments to consumers.
Bledsoe now operates a winery in Washington state. He said Thursday the prohibition on direct wine shipments has prevented him from selling his wine to fans in the Bay State.
A bill filed by Democratic state Rep. Ted Speliotis (spel-ee-OH'-tis) and Republican House Minority Leader Bradley Jones would allow licensed out-of-state wine producers and distributors to ship to consumers. Massachusetts is among a handful of states that ban direct shipments.
Bledsoe says he hopes his presence at the Statehouse will help ''make some noise'' on behalf of the legislation.
Bledsoe opened the winery in 2007 after retiring from the NFL.

Tom Brady gets UNREAL with the Easter Bunny - Sorry Bunny Touchdown Dance (by unreal)
The best of a collection of new Brady videos, one that might give the Jets a little flashback to the 45-3 beatdown in 2010. I have to say, it’s taken over a decade but Brady’s acting is finally starting to improve… a bit.
There are a couple of things going on here. You are free to have an opinion on anything, but as the cliche goes, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
Ted Johnson could have avoided this answer, but he decided to give his opinion according to The Big Lead.
Ted Johnson, a former Patriots linebacker (won three Super Bowls, played at the University of...
For some professional athletes, a number is more than just a digit or two pasted to their uniform.
It sounds like Adrian Wilson is one of those people and he’s willing to put diapers on the line to get his beloved No. 24.
Kyle Arrington, who just inked a four-year deal with the Patriots, has rocked the No. 24 Patriots jersey since 2011 after wearing No. 27 during the three previous...
Here's a note to everyone in the universe. If you're on any kind of medium that is being broadcast to the public, never ever for a second believe that what you say won't get back to someone.
Former Patriot Ted Johnson made that mistake today, and he has summoned the wrath of the large and dangerous Vince Wilfork. Watch out or he'll do to you what he did to Donald...
First off, I have to say I really hate the term “elite” when talking about quarterbacks....
Oh No! Easter has been cancelled due to Tom Brady attacking the Easter Bunny!
Check out this short promo video of Tom Brady killing the Easter Bunny in an ad for UNREAL, a candy company that is promoting a healthy candy made without a bunch of junk in it.
The apology tour mentioned in the video is the Easter Bunny apologizing to children everywhere for filling their baskets with...
The New England Patriots have brought back another member of the secondary when they re-signed Marquice Cole to a new contract. Terms have not yet been disclosed.
Cole came to New England last season on a one-year free agent deal after having spent 3 seasons with the Patriots AFC East rival New York Jets.
Cole, who is primarily a special teams player with some added time...
Or how to first pump.
It's kind of funny that he says, "Do it right at the other team!" because that's basically what the Jets have been complaining about for years. They say Brady does that everytime they score a touchdown, taunting them.
In their defense, that probably would get annoying when the Pats are scoring like six times every game.
For more comedic...
The NFL owners voted to eliminate the infamous tuck rule, the rule that gave Tom Brady second life in his first playoff game. It was a bad rule, it will always be a bad rule if they decide to bring it back and every New England Patriots’ fan knows they got away with murder that day.
It doesn’t mean we still didn’t love the tuck rule.
It would be really easy for me to be a dick...
