Serious penalties are likely headed the New Orleans Saints’ way after an NFL investigation brought forth allegations last week of a pay-for-play bounty system under former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams that rewarded players for injuring opponents.

But former Saints quarterback and current New Orleans sports talk radio host Bobby Hebert thinks it’s all one big plot by the jealous national media to bring down the Saints. Here he is with fellow local radio host Spud McConnell coherently (for the most part) railing against the media and Fran Tarkenton, who also somehow got lumped into this lecture.

It’s a shocking allegation, but not surprising considering who’s delivering it. It’s the most Bobby Hebert response Bobby Hebert could have given to the whole Bountygate fiasco. If you’re unfamiliar with Hebert the “media member,” he openly cheers in the press box and delivers rambling criticisms of head coaches to their faces in press conferences after they lose national championships. He’s just another outlandish former jock in the media whose impartiality is worse than nonexistent; it’s a negative-300. So that should explain these remarks. Either that, or maybe he just had some stale Fritos for lunch.
