Ryan and I are back after a long lay-off to talk about the Atlanta Falcons chances down the stretch as they chase a wildcard spot in the NFC. A lot of frustration has been building in the weeks since we last got together to talk Falcons football, and in this extended episode we vent much of it. Topics of discussion are the recent loss to the Houston Texans as well as some of our expectations for the team’s upcoming game against the Carolina Panthers. Both of us wonder if the Falcons, particularly their offense is ready to take the next step forward. We discuss whether there should be a change at the running position, and whether certain veteran players including an unnamed Pro Bowl wide receiver might potentially be on the trading block after the season. We also discuss whether the Falcons coaches are doing everything they can to get this team playing their best as the postseason looms. I give my typical anti-Peria Jerry and Reggie Kelly rants, and Ryan voices his displeasure over ...

In his second season in the NFL, Sean Weatherspoon is having a strong campaign.
After going through an injury-marred rookie season, Weatherspoon is fulfilling the promise that led to the Falcons selecting him with the 19th pick of the 2010 draft. He's second on the team with 109 tackles and passes defensed with seven. He also has three sacks.
His numbers indicate that he'...
FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons wide receiver Kerry Meier will appeal the $20,000 fined from the NFL for his hit on Vikings long snapper Cullen Loeffler. The hearing will be held Tuesday.
Meier was fined for an illegal blindside block to the head area in the game Nov. 27 during a Falcons’ punt return. Loeffler broke a bone in his lower back on the hit in the second quarter and is out...
Atlanta Falcons rookie receiver Julio Jones practiced fully Friday and is listed as probable for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.
Jones has been bothered by hamstring issues that have sidelined him for four games this season.
He had four catches for 68 yards in last week's 17-10 loss to the Houston Texanss.
The No. 6 overall pick out of Alabama, Jones had 34...
With Michael Turner on the cusp of matching a 23-year-old franchise record, the
Falcons look to rebound from a loss by sweeping another season series from their
NFC South rival.
I love the game we picked this week for our weekly NFL on FOX rivalry rant. In a Ron Pitts and Jim Mora special, it's Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers hosting Matt Ryan and the Falcons in a huge game for the 7-5 Falcons. The hatred runs deep between these division rivals. Cam Newton's had a magical rookie season. The Falcons are coming off of a brutal loss on the road...
