The Penalty Flag:
Mike Smith, Matt Ryan and Roddy White know all about winning. You see, they have been here before and quite often.
It started back in 2008 when Mike Smith was named NFL Coach of the Year and quarterback Matt Ryan earned the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. It was supposed to be a rebuilding year coming off a 4-12 record and a dog fighting scandal, but the Falcons shocked everyone with an 11-5 regular season record.
Fast forward to 2012 and the Falcons have yet to have a losing season. Since 2008, the Falcons have been one of the best in the NFL posting a 48-26 record and appearing the in the playoffs four out of the last five years.… Read more

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan hopes he never has to endure another five-interception game.
It sounds simple, but Ryan breaks down last week's narrow victory over Arizona as a learning experience that could have ended much worse.
Despite his career-high five picks, Ryan still helped the Falcons (9-1) squeak past the Cardinals to maintain a three-game lead over second...
The Falcons have not performed in the playoffs with Matt Ryan at QB. This is the season to show what this team is really made of.
After going a red hot 13-1 in week 11, I went 2-1 on Thanksgiving day. For the season that makes it 106-57. I'm still in striking distance of .750 for the season.
Let's take a look at week 12.
Minnesota at Chicago - The Vikings...
The Atlanta Falcons expect wide receiver Julio Jones to start today against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a key NFC South divisional matchup on Sunday, although he may be limited. It is being reported that Jones is likely to be active, although the number of snaps he plays is a giant question mark.
One report said that Jones may play as needed. If Atlanta can build a lead or keep things...
The Atlanta Falcons have listed wide receiver Julio Jones as
questionable for today’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as he continues
to deal with a lingering ankle sprain. The amount of playing time he receives
and the role he plays in the contest may depend on the pace of the matchup,
reports Jeff Darlington of NFL Network.

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones (ankle) and
running back Michael Turner (groin) practiced in a limited capacity yesterday,
while quarterback Matt Ryan (finger) was a full participant.
Jones returned to practice after sitting out Wednesday due
to an ankle injury. His participation in Thursday’s practice is an encouraging sign
as he prepares for this weekend’s matchup...
Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was a full participant in Friday's practice. He's been dealing with a left finger issue.Fantasy Spin:Ryan suffered through his worst game of the season last weekend, throwing five interceptions and zero touchdowns, but the Falcons still won the game. Facing the Bucs' underperforming secondary, Ryan should return to top-five fantasy form.
TAMPA, Fla. -- Matt Ryan threw for 353 yards and overcame two big turnovers by leading another late touchdown drive to give the Atlanta Falcons a 24-23 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Ryan teamed with Julio Jones on an 80-yard TD in the third quarter, but the NFC South leaders found themselves trailing 23-17 after the Bucs marched for a touchdown, then forced a...
Falcons receiver Julio Jones wasn't slowed by his ankle injury Sunday against Tampa Bay. He caught six passes for 147 yards and a touchdown.Fantasy Spin:Jones saw nine targets, most on the team. He was able to get by Tampa Bay's defense for an 80-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones, who has a sore right ankle, started Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The ankle has been an issue for two weeks but Jones played through it during last week's win over the Arizona Cardinals. Jones has 47 catches for 736 yards with five touchdowns this year. Linebacker Sean Weatherspoon returned after missing four games because...

Atlanta receiver Julio Jones and linebacker Sean Weatherspoon are active for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay after being limited in practice because of ankle injuries.
Jones has been bothered by a sore right ankle for the past two weeks. Weatherspoon returns for the first time since spraining his right ankle four weeks ago at Philadelphia.

Two key players have been questionable heading into week 12 of the NFL regular season. Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler has been dealing with lasting effects of a concussion suffered against the Houston Texans. Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones has been nursing an ankle injury and while he did play a limited number of snaps last week, he was officially listed as questionable.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers host one of the best teams in the NFL and the NFC South division leader Atlanta Falcons. But Atlanta has seen it’s fair share of close calls this season and the Bucs could very well hand them their second loss of the season. Secondary needs to step up this week. Bucs have been at the bottom of the NFL ranks all season against the pass. Matt Ryan and the...
If week 11 in the NFL had one name assigned to it, it would be Houdini. The smoke and mirrors used by Houston, Dallas, Tampa Bay, and Atlanta to magically pull victories out of strait jackets is nothing short of miraculous. The top suicide picks all managed to inch out wins in dramatically late fashion: Matt Ryan throws five interceptions yet the Falcons fly passed the Cardinals...
Last week: 23 (+1)
I’ve watched a lot of football, but I saw two things I’ve never seen before in the Falcons/Cardinals game this week. First, Matt Ryan won despite throwing 5 interceptions and no touchdowns, the first time that’s happened since the merger (Bart Starr did it last). Second, the Cardinals benched John Skelton despite a 13-0 lead. I don’t have any...
