ATLANTA - SEPTEMBER 03: Running back Michael Turner #33 of the Atlanta Falcons rushes against the Baltimore Raves at Georgia Dome on September 3, 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)

Are professional athletes just dumb and/or reckless, or do they think they’re above the law because of their celebrity status?  I make a hell of a lot less money in a year than these guys do and even I have the good sense to take a taxi home if I’ve been out drinking.  So why do athletes have such a hard time grasping such a simple concept, especially when they are wealthy enough to not only spring a few bucks on a cab, but can actually hire a personal driver to cart their asses around town?

Falcons running back Michael Turner—who racked up 42-yards and a fantasy saving touchdown—was busted for DUI and speeding following his team’s 27-21 win over the Broncos.

From the AJC…

Turner, 30, of Suwanee, was booked into the jail just after 5 a.m., and was released about two hours later on $2,179 bond, according to jail records.

Gwinnett police spokesman Ed Ritter said early Tuesday that he didn’t yet have details on Turner’s arrest.

Well, that little stretch of zero NFL player arrests was nice while it lasted.
