Falcons safety William Moore, who missed the final four games of the regular season with a hamstring injury, returned to practice on Saturday. The Falcons went through their last bye week practice in the team’s indoor facility and Moore, one of the team’s top tacklers, was back in action. He expects to be 100 percent when the Falcons, who have gone 0-3 in the playoffs under fifth-year coach Mike Smith, put their 13-3 record and No. 1 seed on the line in the divisional round of the playoffs at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Georgia Dome. Smith believes the bye week was beneficial and the Falcons could end up being at full strength for their divisional playoff game. “You get out of a routine, but the pro is that you get to rest guys,” Smith said. “We’re resting a number of guys this week in terms of their work load. They have not come out on the practice field. Some have taken a day off. We’ve been able to give guys rest.” Moore, defensive end John Abraham (left ankle), cornerback Dunta Robinson (head) and cornerback Christopher Owens (hamstring) could all be ready by Sunday. “Chris has been working on the side,” Smith said. “Again, we don’t have to talk about injuries, but he’s been working on the side. We’ll have to wait and see where he is. Probably of the guys, he’s not as far along as the other guys that we’ve been talking about.” Source: Atlanta Journal Constitution

Falcons CB Samuel's mother passes away

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga.-- When the Atlanta Falcons take the field a week from Sunday in search of their first playoff victory in head coach Mike Smiths five seasons, at least one player will be competing with a heavy heart. Smith announced on Friday that four-time Pro-Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion Asante Samuel was not at practice all week because his mother Christine had...

Atlanta Falcons: Wild Card Round Power Rankings (#5)

I’d like to start this off by saying the argument that Matt Ryan can’t go deep into the playoffs because he’s never won a playoff game is ridiculous. Peyton Manning was once 0-3 in the playoffs and he went on to win a Super Bowl. Plus, two of Ryan’s playoff losses came against eventual Super Bowl Champs. Finally, it’s just 3 games. It doesn’t really mean much. However...

Does Asante Samuel look like he’s grieving?

In NZ’s version of “Come on Man!” We came across this story posted by the Atlanta Journal Constitution. On Tuesday, the mother of Atlanta Falcon’s cornerback Asante Samuel passed away. The AJC reported that Samuel had left the team to be with his family this week. Unfortunately, when they posted the story it was [...]

Falcons' White focused on postseason, not Pro Bowl

Atlanta Falcons receiver Roddy White has gotten over his initial disappointment of missing out on the Pro Bowl for the first time in five years. White is focused on winning a playoff game. Under fifth-year coach Mike Smith, the Falcons have gone 0-3 in the postseason, but White says ''it's going to be a lot different outcome'' this time because the team is more...

Atlanta Falcons: 5 Reasons Why They Won't Win The Super Bowl

The Atlanta Falcons are going into the 2012 postseason with the No.1 seed in the NFC. They will not have to leave the comfort of the Georgia Dome the whole postseason. No trips to the frozen tundra at Lambeau Field. No trips to the soggy field at Candlestick Park. Cozy indoor weather with no wind to blow kicks around, or precipitation to make the football slick and cause errant passes...

Asante Samuel’s mother passes away

When the Falcons next take the field, they'll be doing so with heavy hearts. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Asante Samuel's mother, Christine, passed away Tuesday morning. The four-time Pro Bowl cornerback told the paper in October that she had long been battling an illness -- Lou Gehrig's disease. He missed practice this week to be with his family...

Falcons CB Dunta Robinson Cleared From Concussion Protocol

Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson was cleared from the league’s concussion protocol program and returned to practice on Friday, D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Robinson suffered a concussion after leading with his head while trying to tackle Tampa Bay running back Doug Martin last Sunday. “It was very good to get Dunta back,” Falcons coach...

Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons: Divisional Round Pick

Note: I normally don’t do picks this early, but Chris Clemons is expected to be out with a torn ACL. Once news of that is confirmed, this line will go up from -2.5. I like the Falcons either way, but I like them a lot more at -2.5 than -4.5, so I’m going to get this one locked in before the line moves. And if Clemons doesn’t have a torn ACL, well I was going to make this pick...

Falcons WR Roddy White Has Fully Recovered From His Knee Injury

Falcons wide receiver Roddy White is over the knee injury that slowed him down late in the season. He didn’t practice before the final three games, but answered the bell in each one like he has in every game since being drafted in 2005. “It’s feeling good,” White said of the right knee. “I think the second week was really the turning point for everything. I feel a lot...

Falcons DE John Abraham, CB Dunta Robinson, SS William Moore Don't Practice

The Falcons are taking full advantage of their bye week, treating practice this week like training camp in that they’re emphasizing both working on the fundamentals and resting players. There’s no need to rush back players like defensive end John Abraham, (sprained ankle), cornerback Dunta Robinson (concussion) and safety William Moore (hamstring) until next week. “You want...
