Deep sleepers are guys that are not drafted or rarely drafted. At least an average draft position (ADP) of 150 or greater qualifies for the deep sleeper list, with a couple exceptions as you will find below.Quarterback:As I mentioned in quarterback sleepers and busts, Alex Smith is pissed at what happened in San Francisco. Now teamed up with Andy Reid in Kansas City and a nice array of weaponry in Jamaal Charles, Donnie Avery, Dwayne Bowe, Dexter McCluster, and Anthony Fasano, I expect big things from Smith in 2013.Maybe not top five fantasy point big, but he will be relevant in 2013. With an ADP of about 130, he isn't being drafted in most standard leagues.Carson Palmer didn't factor in the last three games of 2012. Had he averaged what he had done in the previous 13 weeks, Palmer would have finished 9th in fantasy points among QBs. just behind Tony Romo and ahead of Matthew Stafford, Andrew Luck, and Russell Wilson.Hey, I was as shocked as you are when I ran those numbers! Now in Arizona with Larry Fitzgerald, and no competition for his job to speak of, Palmer should be able to exceed those numbers in 2013.Un-drafted in most leagues, Palmer is at worst a bye week fill-in in 2013, at best an every week starter with top seven upside.Running Back:This list is full of backups starting with Bilal Powell. Can Chris Ivory stay healthy and if he can is he more talented than Powell? I see Powell taking over as the starter in New York at some point in the season or at the very least a 50/50 time share.Given how much head coach Rex Ryan loves to run the ball Powell has immense potential in 2013.I like Marcel Reece over Rashad Jennings to take over when, not if, but when Darren McFadden goes down with injury.Sneaking in a player with an ADP of 130, Fred Jackson will average about 15 points per game when, not if, but when C.J. Spiller gets hurt.Even with Spiller healthy, Jackson poaches goal line carries in addition to stealing some every-down totes.Pierre Thomas is versatile, unlike Mark Ingram in New Orleans. Thomas will score around 80 points with everyone healthy. If an injury occurs, to Ingram or Darren Sproles, that number goes up. A decent stash on your roster.LeGarrette Blount is a Bill Belichick kind of player. I have a suspicion Belli, (that's what I call him at the country club in my mind), will find a way to use Blount. If injury occurs in New England expect that usage to increase. Not worthy of a roster stash but keep an eye on Blount.Roy Helu appears to be the handcuff in Washington. I am a huge Evan Royster fan, but it is Helu that should be owned. He will be the third down back and I suspect would take over if anything were to happen to Morris.Wide Receiver:Cordarrelle Patterson is impressing in Minnesota with his talent, work ethic, and enthusiasm. With little receiver talent in Minnesota there is opportunity there for Patterson. The word is that he isn't polished, but what little I have seen, I have a feeling Patterson becomes fantasy relevant in 2013.Kendall Wright flashed brilliance in Tennessee in 2012. The problem here is Kenny Britt and Nate Washington. Love me some Nate Washington. The guy just makes plays. You thought I was about to tout Wright didn't you? Sorry this is for Nate Washington, not Wright. Washington is the No. 2 wideout in Tennessee, with Britt's banged up knee he is the best receiver Tennessee has. With the uncertainty that is Kenny Britt, Washington is firmly entrenched.I wrote about Nick Toon as a sleeper in my wide receiver column, but Kenny Stills is getting all the pub in The Big Easy. Big preseason pub is a bad omen to me, but Stills has the speed and makes spectacular catches. He takes a Robert Meachem-type roll here and is hit or miss every week. But injury could propel him to more consistency and looks.Despite Riley Cooper's tumultuous offseason he has the size and speed to make a difference in Philadelphia. The lack of wideout talent in Philly helps him tremendously as well. The Kansas City Chiefs sent Jon Baldwin to San Francisco via trade and that is due to the Donnie Avery being on-board.I really like Avery opposite Dwayne Bowe to be a bye week fill-in at worst in 2013.There is no chance both Malcom Floyd and Vincent Brown stay healthy, opening the door for Keenan Allen to be a fantasy difference maker in 2013.Tight End:Julius Thomas has looked phenomenal in Denver. With Peyton Manning at quarterback, Thomas is worth a look.More athletically talented than what is on the Denver roster currently at tight end, Manning has locked on to Thomas in pre-season. Thomas is close toa top 10 tight end by seasons end in 2013.Ed Dickson emerges as the starter with the season-ending injury to Dennis Pitta. Not as gifted as Pitta, Dickson is in a fantastic situation with how Baltimore utilizes the tight end.Jordan Cameron is coming in with an ADP of about 132, but this is tight end, so it qualifies for this column. With a year under his belt Cameron is ready to emerge.Cleveland felt so strongly about Cameron, they let Kellen Davis and Ben Watson go. There is no competition here, Cameron is the clear No. 1.Enter tight end loving Norv Turner as the offensive co-ordinator and Cameron is poised for big things in 2013. As big as his 6'5” frame.Who did I miss? Let me know down below. See what I did there? I made a rhyme. To see my current column on running backs go here.Quarterbacks are here.Wide receivers can be found here.
