The San Francisco 49ers, fresh off a 34-0 beating of the New York Giants are returning home to find yet another offensive weapon returning to the field. RB Brandon Jacobs will be returning to the field and will likely start cutting into Frank Gore’s carries each game. Jacobs has been out of the lineup after suffering a knee injury in the preseason and will be returning to the field for the first time this regular season. Jacobs was seen on the practice field running 60-yard sprints at full speed according to the San Francisco Chronicle. He told reporters after practice, “I’m ready to play, it’s all gone now.” The paper suggests that Jacobs could become an integral part of the Niners short yardage run game, helping to convert third downs. San Francisco is currently ranked 22nd in the NFL on third down conversions.Overall, the Niners are currently ranked third in the league in rushing offense, averaging 167 yards per game. Veteran RB Frank Gore has rushed for 326 yards and three score...

San Francisco 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs looks like he’s ready to make his season debut this week after being out since the preseason with a knee injury. “I’m ready to play, it’s all gone now.” According to Kevin Lynch of the San Francisco Chronicle, Jacobs “was running 60-yard dashes full bore on Tuesday in triple-degree heat.”  This is certainly a sign that...

49ers cornerback: Jets quit on Sunday

Carlos Rogers believes the Jets quit during the team's blowout loss to San Francisco, adding that the Jets defense looked like it "didn’t want to be out there."

San Francisco 49ers: Week 5 NFL Power Rankings (#7)

Last week: 8 (+1) Record: 3-1 Through 4 games, the 49ers lead the league in yards per play differential. I still don’t trust Alex Smith to lead this team deep into the playoffs, but this was one of my preseason disappointing teams and I’ve definitely come around on them. They haven’t had to dominate the turnover battle like they did last year (only +4 through 4 games). The...

49ers' Carlos Rogers says Jets defense quit

Carlos Rogers, the San Francisco 49ers cornerback who returned Santonio Holmes' fumble 51 yards for a touchdown, had a theory why his team crushed the New York Jets 34-0 on Sunday.  Rogers thinks Gang Green's defense packed it in early. "It kinda seemed like, after a while they just, I know, looking at their defense, they didn't want to be out there," Rogers...

Rex Ryan says his defense didn’t quit on Sunday

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Carlos Rogers told the media on Tuesday that he felt like the <a href=""I think when you look at it, certainly we didn't play well, it's obvious we didn't play well to his standards, either," Ryan said. "I think we have a reputation in this league as being a tremendous defense and we didn't play that way. As far...

Kaepernick still too raw to challenge Smith

Even with Colin Kaepernick's explosive performance in the 34-0 shutout of the Jets, Bay Area sports fans aren't even close to framing a debate about a quarterback controversy. First of all, Kaepernick moved the ball explosively with his feet. He essentially gained 50 yards on three carries (with two kneel downs). But in the NFL, quarterbacks establish their utility as passers...

San Francisco 49ers vs. New York Jets: Hero and Zero of the Game

Not long after the San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets clashed at the Meadowlands, it was explicitly clear which team prepared their team for victory and the other struggling to find answers. By the end, the sound of victory struck with profundity as the Niners hopped a flight headed west with a 34-0 victory in hand. After a tough loss to Minnesota, the 49ers embarked upon their...

Carlos Rogers says the Jets defense didn’t want to be on the field

According to Brian Costello of the New York post, during an interview with Sirius XM Radio, San Francisco 49ers cornerback Carlos Rogers said that he got the feeling the Jets defense didn’t want to be on the field anymore during last week’s blow out. “It kinda seemed like, after a while they just, I know, looking at their defense, they didn’t want to be out there,” said...

Carlos Rogers thinks Jets quit

One of the worst defensive performances in Rex Ryan’s coaching career turned even worse Tuesday night, when San Francisco 49ers cornerback Carlos Rogers accused the New York Jets of quitting late in Sunday’s 34-0 blowout. “Yeah, you could see it happening,” Rogers told SiriusXM NFL Radio. “It kind of shocked me because a lot of guys on (our) sideline were saying, ‘They...

49ers achieve many firsts in win against Jets

The 49ers manhandled the Jets on Sunday in a 34-0 victory. Yet the team had quite a few first time occasions on each side of the ball to propel them to the big win. The biggest note for firsts in this game is quarterback Colin Kaepernick's first career touchdown. The second year backup scored his first touchdown in the second quarter of the game on a read option run. This was...

Bills-49ers Preview

The San Francisco 49ers open a home-heavy portion of their schedule following an impressive win. The Buffalo Bills could use one of those as they begin a potentially rough stretch outside of western New York. San Francisco goes for a sixth straight home win over an AFC opponent when the Bills try to end a five-game road skid against NFC foes Sunday. Coming off a surprising 24...
