Last season, the Carolina Panthers fielded a very formidable rushing attack, aided in part by rookie QB Cam Newton. This season, Newton has struggled and his lack of performance on the field has affected the Panthers rushing game so far this season. The Panthers are a team in turmoil right now and as head coach Ron Rivera looks for answers, it appears that Jonathan Stewart will be the team’s starting running back for the second consecutive week. The Panthers backfield appeared to be stacked this season with DeAngelo Williams along with Jonathan Stewart returning with Cam Newton. The Panthers also added free agent RB Mike Tolbert this year in free agency. Despite averaging nearly 200 yards per game on the ground last year, Carolina is a middle of the road team this season, gaining an average of 113 yards running the ball this season. Stewart has only appeared in four games this season, rushing for 142 yards and he has not found the endzone this season to this point. Despite receiving...

Jonathan Stewart Under The Friday Night Lights

I love Friday nights Juan… Fantasy owners have been waiting for one of the Panthers RBs to emerge and J-Stew should be the guy that Rivera gives the rock to.  Rivera confirmed that he wanted to get one RB in a rhythm instead of rotating all three guys in and out of the lineup.  It’s about time. Stewart is a top 5-10 talent at the RB slot, but the most carries he has received...

Jimmy Johnson: Cam Newton ‘better worry’ about his job

Cam Newton may have been the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year last season, but at least one person believes the second-year quarterback may need to start worrying about his job security. FOX NFL Sunday analyst Jimmy Johnson thinks that the Carolina Panthers’ decision to fire general manager Marty Hurney during the week could put Newton’s job status in jeopardy. “With a new...

The Panthers need Cam Newton to become a leader

The Panthers are a franchise in complete disarray. So far this season, their quarterback has had episodes of showing a severe lack of mental toughness, they've fired their general manager, and now their head coach is publicly stating the team is without a leader, not that it surprises anyone to hear it. Rivera said during an interview WFNZ’s The Drive, "Some people...

Jonathan Stewart Officially Carolina's No. 1 RB

Carolina head coach Ron Rivera acknowledged Friday that Jonathan Stewart is officially the Panthers' starting running back.Fantasy Spin:Stewart hopped DeAngelo Williams on the depth chart last week against Dallas and it looks he'll continue to play with the starter distinction for the forseeable future. With that said, Stewart faces an uphill battle this week against the Bears.

D-Willy On The Trade Block

I could be on the move Juan… The trade deadline has been moved back to Thursday, so there will be a couple of extra days to pull the trigger on a trade.  DeAngelo Williams is another player that could on the trade block.  The Panthers have already made a commitment to make Jonathan Stewart the starter, so getting value for D-Will will be helpful to a team that has a ton of holes...

Panthers going through mid-season crisis and Cam still pouting

It’s Week 8 in the NFL and the Carolina Panthers are 1-5. Cam Newton has been heavily criticized again this year for his childish mannerisms on the sidelines. In fairness to the Panthers they have been hit hard by the injury bug. Many of their big name players are out for the season including Chris Gamble, Jon Beason and Ryan Kalil. The atmosphere in the stadium was full of hope...

The Chicago Bears staged a tremendous comeback over the Carolina Panthers Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois.  Early on in the game it very much looked like the hero of the game was going to be the Carolina Panthers' defense and the zero of the game was going to be Jay Cutler.  However, about halfway through the third quarter, this game changed in a huge...
