Before the season started, I previewed and wrote about the Jacksonville Jaguars, I really tried to find a silver lining that wasn't there.  Maurice Jones-Drew hadn't signed yet, so I tried to find a superstar in Rashad Jennings and when MJD went down I thought, "I am going to look like a genius" but that just didn't happen, Jennings couldn't capitalize on the opportunity that was handed to him when Jones-Drew tore up his foot and has missed most of this season. Other than that nugget of insight, I didn't have much to say about the Jaguars and their impact on Fantasy Football.Once the Jags season started, it was evident that they were one of the worst teams in the NFL.  There wasn't one player on that team that was worth owning after Jones-Drew went down and even before he did, there just wasn't much there from him either. The Jags have been chugging along, not doing much, not impressing anyone and not giving any writers anything to write about; until now.   Jackonville's quarterback Blaine Gabbert has battled injuries and now finds himself on the IR for the remainder of the season and is set to have some work done on an injured shoulder and forearm. Finally, Chad Henne made his first start of the season Week 11 against the AFC leading Houston Texans and he almost pulled off an upset.  Henne was the breath of fresh air Jacksonville receivers were looking for.  Henne threw for 354 yards and 4 touchdowns in a very close game.  In Week 12, Henne had another good performance against the Tennessee Titans throwing for another 261 yards and 2 touchdowns. Best of all, the Jags beat the Titans 24-19. Chad Henne has given this team a new boost and confidence that has lacked all season.  The biggest surprise of the season so far for Jacksonville is the performance of 2nd year wide receiver Cecil Shorts who has been a beneficiary of both Gabbert and Henne's passes, but Henne has helped him find the end zone the past 3 weeks. Shorts has been a waiver wire pick up and if he isn't taken in your league now, you have to grab him, he is consistent and on a team that is starting to have a rebirth of sorts. Finally, one other wide receiver to keep an eye on is Justin Blackmon, the highly touted rookie from Oklahoma State. Blackmon was talked about alot during pre season fantasy football analysis.  I found it hard to believe that he would find his groove with no one to throw to him, I was right, until now.  Chad Henne has found an instant chemistry with Blackmon who had his breakout game in the Houston loss; 7 receptions, 236 receiving yards and a touchdown. Blackmon added another touchdown the following week against Tennessee. Henne has brought something to this team and from a fantasy football standpoint, Henne might be a nice pick up if you are desperate for a quarterback, but most importantly, the emergence of Shorts and Blackmon add a some Jaguar potential for any fantasy team. Grab 'em while their hot because the remaining schedule looks fantastic for the Jags. Those remaining games are against;  Bills, NY Jets, Dolphins, Patriots and the Titans.  These are all games with great offensive potential.  Keep this in mind when you are trying to piece together a team that can get you to the championship!
