It is already the sixth week of the NFL season, and the players and teams who are for real are becoming apparent. The standings are beginning to take form, and some teams have already seen their playoff chances dashed.

Here are some tips for those who may have any last minute questions for Week 6.

Under-the-Radar Players to Consider

Andy Dalton

At the beginning of the year, I never thought I would be saying anything positive about Dalton. I also would have never thought that the Bengals would be 3-2, and heading into a very winnable game against the winless Colts in Week 6.

He has already thrown for over one thousand yards with six touchdowns on the year. He will be able to pick apart the Colts secondary with the help of his rookie counterpart A.J. Green.

Earnest Graham

The Bucs are coming off an embarrassing 48-3 loss against the 49ers, and do not face an easy opponent this week in New Orleans. Legarrette Blount is banged up, and Graham will likely see the bulk of the carries. It is a stretch to say that he will garner a large point value, but he is a safe bet to replace anyone that may be on a bye week.

Greg Little

Coach Shurmur of the Browns announced that Little will now be in the starting lineup, replacing Brian Robiske. He hasn’t caught a touchdown yet this year, but this should change now that he is in the starting lineup. The Browns’ use of the West Coast offense benefits the receivers, as they will see the bulk of the action.

Stars Who Could Disappoint

Matt Stafford

The last time I said to sit Stafford, he went out and played great, which is what he has done all year. However, this week he and the Lions are going up one of the better defenses in the league in the surprising 4-1 49ers.

If Stafford is clearly better than any of your backups, then obviously start him. However, if one of your backups has a more favorable matchup, Eli Manning for example, then this could be a week that Stafford stays on the bench.

Frank Gore

Not only are the 49ers a great defensive team, but the Lions are as well. They are solid up front, with Ndamukong Suh and Corey Williams anchoring the defensive line.

Gore has had back-to-back 100 yard games on the ground, but those were against the Eagles and Bucs. This week will be much different, and it will be tough for Gore to even reach the 100 yard mark. With bye weeks, you may not have a choice but to play Gore, but if you’re blessed with running back depth, don’t just start him automatically.

Hakeem Nicks

The Giants are going up against the Bills in Week 6. The Bills have struggled against the pass, but that does not mean Nicks will record many points. In fact, in three of Nicks’ last four games he has recorded four or fewer receptions (with the other game being a 10-catch performance.)

Nicks is the Giants’ top receiver, so he will attract most of the attention from the Bills’ secondary. This will open up the field for breakout player Victor Cruz, who is tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns with 3 along with Nicks. Again, you are probably going to start Nicks, but he’s not as much of a slamdunk stud in Week 6 as he might seem.
