According to a story out of Arizona, rookie running back Andre Ellington is practicing with his new team with a chip on his shoulder.A sixth-round pick out of Clemson, Ellington wants to prove he belongs in the NFL, with his new team, the Cardinals--and he wants to prove a crowded backfield that there is room for a man with his talents. And he wants the rest of the NFL to know they made a mistake in not selecting him.We have heard this before many times over, of how a rookie comes into camp all mad, huffing and puffing and wanting to make an impact. If you want to know if those types of players are successful, ask Maurice Jones-Drew.As a rookie, with a team that has Ryan Williams, Rashard Mendenhall and fifth-round pick Stepfan Taylor on its roster, Ellington is going to have to produce in a big way to get noticed. And in the eyes of fantasy football owners, it may be awhile before they look Ellington’s way.“It’s a different speed now. I have picked up some plays,” Ellington said in an interview on sbnation.com.That speed he possesses will come in handy in new head coach Bruce Arians’ system.Arians helped to develop Andrew Luck’s rookie season and also helped to revitalize the Indianapolis Colts into a playoff contender.Could he work the same magic in Arizona?Ellington hopes to be a big part of that.“[the coaches] They know my talent is there, they just want to see it come out,” he also said.Ellington may be a change of pace back at 5’9”, 199 pounds for the Cardinals, but for now he may be too much of a gamble for fantasy owners to take a shot at.
