After winning Super Bowl MVP honors Sunday, Joe Flacco's busy Monday ended with some contract talk during an appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman." Letterman asked the quarterback whether he had talked with Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti since the Super Bowl. Flacco is due to become a free agent during the offseason. "Well, you know, actually, I only talked to him a little bit before this game, but before the New England game, you know, he just came up to me and said, 'Listen, this is our time, and go get 'em. We have all the faith in you, and this is going to be your team for a long time,'" Flacco said. Letterman, responding as though he were Bisciotti, said, "That's right. And when we're all done, you come into my office, and you can beat me up all you want, you can get me down on all fours and grab my wallet." Flacco said, "Well, that was actually earlier in the year when I wasn't signing what they wanted me to sign, he said, 'Listen, when the time comes, I mean, you come and beat on my desk,' and I said, 'All right, I'll take you up on that,' and I think the time has come." Management for the Ravens, from Biscotti to general manager Ozzie Newsome, calmly insisted in the weeklong buildup to Sunday's game that Flacco's contract wouldn't be an issue. If the two sides continue at an impasse in negotiations, Flacco would be retained using the franchise tag. The exact figures for franchise players at every position aren't known until March just before free agency, but the exclusive franchise marker for quarterbacks is projected at $20 million. Flacco began Monday with a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida before flying to New York to talk with Letterman. The quarterback also joked with the talk-show host about the power outage that dimmed the Ravens' momentum Sunday. "Believe me, don't get me started. My dad is a big conspiracy theorist, so, you know, that's the last thing we need to talk about," Flacco said.
