For at least one day, Atlantis will no longer be regarded as America's most popular fictitious city.

Per John Breech of CBSSports.com, the mayor of Treasure Island, Fla., Bob Minning, announced that the city will officially be renamed to "Revis Island" on Thursday, Sept. 12.

The honor, of course, is meant for Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis, who represents "an island filled with interceptions, touchdown returns and batted passes."

"I'm honored and humbled to receive this special honor from the City of Treasure Island," Revis told the Buccaneers' official website. "Ever since I became a Buccaneer, the support I've received from the Tampa Bay community has been tremendous. I'll do my best to live up to this honor on Sunday afternoon in our home opener against the New Orleans Saints."

The Bucs organization is encouraging fans to come out and celebrate the event, which will feature appearances by cheerleaders, the mascot, and front office types. Minning, in apparent pun-making mode, also hopes you enjoy the local amenities.

"In Treasure Island, we have the most beautiful beaches in all of Tampa Bay, and we always remind beachgoers to wear the appropriate sun screen. But I guess at Revis Island, you don't need any sun screen -- because at Revis Island, you're ALWAYS covered!"

Come one, come all. Hopefully your experience is better than the many receivers who've paid visits to Treasu- ... er, "Revis Island."
