Eagles coach Andy Reid said Monday that quarterback Michael Vick has a "pretty significant" concussion, making it likely that rookie Nick Foles will get his first pro start Sunday against the Washington Redskins. Foles, the Eagles' third-round pick out of the University of Arizona, replaced Vick early in the second quarter of Sunday's 38-23 loss to the Dallas Cowboys after Vick was hit by Cowboys linebacker Ernie Sims. Vick fell backwards and hit his head on the ground, apparently causing the concussion. Foles did a decent job considering that he hadn't had any reps with the first-team offense since the preseason. He completed 22 of 32 passes for 219 yards and a touchdown. He also had an interception, which was returned 47 yards for a touchdown by Brandon Carr. "He did a nice job of keeping his eyes down the field," Reid said. "He was under pressure and made a couple of nice plays there. There are a couple of plays he'd like to have back. But I thought he did a nice job of getting the ball out on time. He handled the pressure well when it was in his face." While Reid wasn't quite ready to rule Vick out of Sunday's game, he said he doesn't expect him to be able to practice on Wednesday, which means Foles will get all of the first-team reps. Reid said after the game on Sunday that Vick is the team's starting quarterback. But considering the Eagles' 3-6 record, if Foles goes out and plays fairly well on Sunday, it's hard to envision the Eagles going back to Vick when he's healthy. "Michael's our (starting) quarterback, but I have confidence in Nick," Reid said. "Michael's hurt right now and Nick's going to step in and be the quarterback until that point comes (when Vick is able to play). Then we'll take it from there. "I can't project the future. I'm just telling you what I'm telling you. Mike's the quarterback. Nick comes in and he's a relief pitcher and does his thing."
