As we reported a few days ago, former Atlanta Falcons defensive end Ray Edwards is now boxing and taking fights where ever he can get them. Edwards recently had a fight in barn located somewhere in North Dakota.  Edwards won that fight, but only after his opponent took a dive, and was dropped by the worst phantom punch in boxing history. The Associated Press is reporting that Edwards opponent that night, Nicholas Capes, has been suspended indefinitely for taking a dive. Combative Sports Commissioner Al Jaeger says a video review of the fight between Nicholas Capes and a much larger Ray Edwards clearly shows Capes was not hit before he dropped to the canvas. Officials are continuing to investigate. Event promoter Cory Rapacz says Capes was a last-minute replacement for a couple of no-show boxers and didn’t realize what he was getting into before he got into the ring with Edwards, a former Vikings defensive end. He says officials expected Capes to try but says the backlash against Capes is unfair. I would hope Edwards and his promotional team had nothing to do with such a farce of a fight.  We can only assume that Capes didn’t expect Edwards to be as big as he was, and calmly bowed out, before receiving any injuries or hard blows. Here is a clip of that terrible dive for all those who may have missed it.  Nicholas Capes should be suspended forever.
