TEAMS: Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears 2011 first-round draft pick offensive lineman Gabe Carimi wasn’t in attendance at Halas when the team began organized team activities on Monday, according to Jeff Dickerson of ESPNChicago. Carimi was the only eligible player not on the field for the only mandatory portion of the Bears' offseason program. It was the first of 10 OTAs, and it's unclear if Carimi will attend Tuesday. There is growing speculation that Carimi could be released as he hasn’t lived up to the Bears expectations as a first round pick. Dickerson writes: According to multiple sources, Carimi hasn't been with the team since he participated in the club's voluntary three-day minicamp held from April 16-18. Following the conclusion of the minicamp, Carimi informed the Bears he planned to skip the second phase of the Bears' offseason program that included individual on-field work and positional meetings in favor of returning to Arizona to continue his offseason training.

  • Gabe Carimi is about to get a reality check, he thinks that Trestmant is like Lovie Smith and he'll say that's ok your excused. Well it'sn not going to work that way with Trestman. Gabe Carimi is about to get launch. He feels that he has better things to do. What Gabe Carimi didn't figure is all the money he is going to lose. I don't think there is an NFL unemployment line. When a player thinks that he is bigger than the team he is asking for trouble and Gabe Carimi just found it. The Bears are saying "Happy Trals to you we won't be seeing you again".

Chicago Bears Roster Competition: Can Cornelius Washington Be Better Than Shea McClellin?

Phil Emery may have gotten the best talent in the draft in the back end of the 2013 NFL Draft thanks to players like Marquess Wilson and Cornelius Washington from Georgia.  Washington is an explosive pass rusher who shows a tremendous first step and speed to the outside.  Washington has the length, the size and speed to be an effective base 4-3 defensive end in this scheme.  He...

Matt Forte will have an increased role in Marc Trestman’s passing offense

Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte is in the elite category when it comes to skill sets. He is a dynamic runner and gets plenty of yards via the ground, but what separates Forte from most NFL backs is his ability to catch the football. Forte is the newest version of Marshall Faulk, the former Rams great who could dominate taking a handoff, or running routes. He is the perfect...

Bears’ Gabe Carimi skips OTA’s

According to Jeff Dickerson of ESPNChicago.com, Bears offensive lineman Gabe Carimi didn’t show up for the first day of OTA’s and likely won’t be showing up for the next few days. Former Chicago Bears first-round draft pick Gabe Carimi was a no-show at Halas Hall on Monday when the team took the field for the first organized team activity of the offseason, according to...

Jay Cutler Is ‘Borderline Football Brilliant,’ According to New Bears Quarterback Coach Matt Cavanaugh

The Bears may not have enough confidence in Jay Cutler to extend his contract, which expires after this season. But Chicago’s new quarterback coach, Matt Cavanaugh, had some high praise for the seventh-year quarterback. Of course, it’s worth noting that prior to Cavanaugh getting hired by the Bears, he spent four years tutoring Mark Sanchez as the Jets’ quarterback coach. So...

Adam Schefter leaves out longsnapper when reporting statistic

Chicago Bears longsnapper and special teams captain Patrick Mannelly got left out today when Adam Schefter reported this fact.  It’s tough to blame Schefter for forgetting about a longsnapper from the 1998 draft, but you have to feel bad for Mannelly.  Longsnappers are easily the most under-appreciated players in the NFL.  For those of you wondering, Mannelly was drafted out...

Chicago Bears Full Offseason Recap Part 3: NFL Draft

Bears Sign Four Including DT Corvey Irvin

The Chicago Bears signed four after rookie minicamp including defensive tackle Corvey Irvin. Other players signed were DT Christian Tupou, CB Maurice Jones, and WR Demetrius Fields. Of the four, Irvin has the most experience being a 3rd round pick in 2009. He was waived by the Bucs earlier this month after playing in 12 games for them during the 2012 season. Irvin has also played...

Jon Vander Woude’s All-Bears team of the last 15 years

As we stumble through the desert of another long, dull offseason, we here at WCSN are constantly searching for amusing (and football-related) diversions. Michael Helton had the excellent idea of ranking top draft picks for teams, which I copied and for the Chicago Bears . Now I’m borrowing from another WCSN writer, Tyler Norris, and putting [...]The post Jon Vander Woude’s All...

Chicago Bears possibly cutting Gabe Carimi; Atlanta potential destination

Gabe Carimi has been a huge bust with the Chicago Bears. There’s no denying that. The “Jew Bear,” I’m not kidding that is his nickname, has stood out as a horrible offensive lineman; even amidst a really bad O Line. Multiple reports are saying Carimi and the Bears will soon part ways. The Atlanta Falcons seem to be a possible landing spot. Carimi was drafted by the Bears...

Brian Urlacher Rumors Still Not Dead After Several Beatings

Despite several aggressive and haunting beatings provided by Vikings fans to the contrary, those god damn rumors about former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher joining the Minnesota Vikings just won't die. Fans have tried breaking the rumors' nose, shattering several ribs, burning their house down, and threatening legal action, all to no avail. Somehow, these rumors...
