B.J. Askew has cashed in for injuries he contends cut his promising NFL career short. Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune reports the former fullback for the Buccaneers was awarded $3.4 million in a civil suit for a car accident in 2009. Askew was rear-ended on Oct. 12, 2009, as he was driving to practice. The Bucs placed him on the non-football injury list with a neck injury and the club released him the next year. Askew signed with the Bucs in May 2008, picking up an $8.6 million, four-year contract, which at the time was the largest contract ever given to a pure fullback, Askew has not played football since the wreck.
